I actually don't mind the queues Cherie, but the one way systems give me existential dread. I have nightmares about the arrows in Tesco.

Makes me laugh tbh, it's always the people in the most outrageous PPE gear that are coming down the aisles the wrong way and reach around you as you're looking at something. Seems counterintuitive.

Unless they're just Michael Jackson fans.

Unless they're just Michael Jackson fans.

The PPE renders them immune to the covids, so they don't have to socially distance. It's an either/or decision.

We have a Waitrose its the only supermarket in our town, some of the products are expensive but others are on a par with other supermarkets, we have an Aldi, M&S and Lidl on the outskirts of town which is great if you drive, but not everyone can drive and its quite a way for elderly people.

Liam- 29-05-2020 02:53 PM

Aldi

Oliver_W 29-05-2020 02:54 PM

Since moving to the village I generally do online shopping, because I'm laaazyyyy

caprimint 29-05-2020 03:01 PM

Aldi  (aside from the godawful queues outside of them now)

user104658 29-05-2020 03:03 PM

Mmmm aldi, flavourless vegetables, chicken that smells like it went off 3 days ago, and service with a grunt and a grimace. What more could you want.

Denver 29-05-2020 03:08 PM

Lidl bakery is amazing

Admittedly I’m not a fan of my shopping being throwing through the checkout like a shotput practice session

How did this thread go from a heavy debate on excessive police force to chit chat about supermarkets in less than 3 pages

Middle class supermarkets. It's a social commentary.

That's a friend of mines pet peeves. Like he hates it with a passion, it makes him furious, sometimes I casually mention it just to watch the chaos. I don't really know why. He hates it more than I hate Aldi.

Blimey, that's a random thing to hate :joker:

But to be fair, it's also a random thing to like

It takes all sorts!

Marsh. 29-05-2020 03:53 PM

I bet it's a nightmare directing one way traffic around that.

He played into her hands by admitting he had been arrested before giving her reasonable cause for detaining him for the purpose of a search.

Has any one on here been arrested or had any interactions with the police?

I have had lots. My most recent experience was one of great understanding and compassion from the officers involved but I can also say I’ve had row with police calling me names as I gave them a piece of my mind.

And then there have been those that are pumped up and like having a power trip but they are soon put in their place when i know I’ve done nothing wrong.

Up to that point was fine(ish) but she then tried to physically restrain him, and moved on to trying to cuff him, when he was being compliant with the search.

Hmm, but the point is, if you tried to put them in their place and you were black they would probably kick your legs out from under you, cuff you, and stick you in the back of the van.

No, she cuffed him and told him he was going into custody at the very end of the video. This was after he'd already consented to a search and she saw fit to grab him like a piece of sh*t despite him posing no threat nor resisting a search.

No marsh she says you are going to be placed in cuffs he says about being placed in custody, she replied no and if the video hadn’t cut off she would of said not custody cuffs.

Her putting cuffs on him was to get control of the situation, have you never watched programs involving the police, some can lash out or do a runner in the blink of a eye.

See, you can’t just make those assumptions that if you are black the police will be racist, this country is no wear near as bad as America when it comes to racism in the police force.

We're not discussing police, camera, action. There was no "situation" for her to get control of. He was polite and compliant with everything she asked.

She asks for him to stand and then gives him no time to do so before grabbing him to slap the cuffs on. She was not justified.

Once she told him she was detaining him she is well within her legal right to hand cuff him.

He can protest but the law is the law.

Police are just men and women in uniform.

There was a serving police officer in this country who recently strangled his lover to death.

You have to treat people as individuals and not tar every one with the same brush.
