The forgotten victims in this are the twins too, they probably have not had an ideal childhood with all the media scrutiny on their parents.

The McCann's to are loving, caring parents I am sure the twins are just fine

Denver 04-06-2020 09:22 AM

Loving caring parents dont leave very young children in a unlocked apartment to go drinking with their pals

Do we really know ALL the details though ?

I recall seeing many , many differing accounts of her disappearance 13 years ago

The media make up half the stuff they tell us don’t they ?

It’s interesting that he changed his vehicle number plate the morning after she went missing ...

The fact that they left their 3 very young children alone in the apartment while they went out for food and drink is something the McCanns freely admit. That's one point of the story that there is no disagreement on

Well it’s not something we ever considered doing I’ll admit .. do we know for certain how far away from the girls they were though ??

This new suspect was convicted of a vicious rape on an elderly woman in 2005 in the Algarve .. I dread to think how many innocent people have suffered at his hands over the years

Well yeah, there's numerous photo's, maps etc of the exact spot they sat in and their apartment

Police have revealed that he was spotted in Praia da Luz on the night she vanished and has a series of child sex convictions ..

This all looks very grim

The police are apparently sharing lots of circumstantial evidence - far more than normal - with the hope sparking the public into maybe remembering or reporting something that may know .

It wasn’t a “few metres”

About 50 metres in a direct line, but "out of sight" (a wall between them and the entrance is out and round a corner)

Any progress in finding out what happened to her at this point is a good thing, but I am a bit surprised that it's only now they have identified this person as being in the locality as he seems to have quite an extensive, relevant history

Not ideal then .. and something we certainly never did .

Do we know how they defended their decision to leave them all unattended?

Maddie has a habit of popping up when certain tabloids don't like the big news stories that day

They must have something as it’s gone crazy all of sudden in the Portugal and German media

They just repeatedly say that it's a normal thing to do on holiday, even though 99% of other parents are like "What???". They just say again that it's normal and anyone would do it.

We actually went to Portugal when my kids were 4 and 2... The furthest we went was lying out on the balcony of the villa at night looking at the stars when they were asleep in the next room. Granted, being in The Algarve with two small kids, we did have the Maddie cautionary tale on our minds, but I don't know any parent who would actually go out for dinner at any distance and leave their kids alone. As is frequently pointed out - so many things could happen. What if there was a fire? Etc.

Its no different to a parent in the UK leaving their kids at home and going to the pub at the end of the street. No one would try to justify that.

If they lived on a council estate on Liverpool, they’d have had the other two taken off them as well for wilful neglect now

I hope you're right although living in Maddies shadow these whole time cannot have been ideal.

German Prosecutors
say she is presumed dead.

The McCann's lawyer was talking on TV this morning about the appalling trolling the McCann's had suffered. Immediately I thought of this place and how people can seemingly say what they like.

I would LOVE to see the McCann's lawyers prosecuting the trolls. Could happen... fingers crossed.

There are far worse places than here that have gone after the McCanns for years. Some of the stuff Chuff posted from other groups was far worse than people stating they were negligent for leaving the kids alone and were they not as educated and able to afford the legal team they have, would probably have been investigated for some form of child abandonment.

bots 04-06-2020 11:37 AM

The McCann's were well connected, which i think had more bearing on the case and the media than money

Cherie 04-06-2020 11:39 AM

If he was a burglar in the area, poor Maddy was probably in the wrong place and the wrong time, she might have been awake and it was opportunist...

awful that it has taken 13 years to find this guy given he has so many previous convictions

Lets hope it is him and that he confesses so we can finally put an end to it

arista 04-06-2020 11:43 AM

Germany is saying she was murdered.
So its down to finding her body

Samm 04-06-2020 11:46 AM

Serious neglect sure for the parents blame. As for them murdering her I struggle to believe why would they go to this effort for over ten years to still push for an investigation.

Germany thinks the German Sex offender
had sex with the child
then murdered her.

I’m not sure what time of the year she went missing but It’s scary to think that we were on holiday in Lagos with our little kids that summer with that guy seemingly living (and preying ) in the area .
