I'd be happy with a Billie Jean win also

Thank you all for voting - the points tallies here were actually larger than the 90s edition, so I guess we're all more nostalgic than we thought. Will there be a 70s edition, you ask? Maybe. But not for a while.

Niamh. 12-06-2020 12:37 PM

Oh yay, my top3 are exactly the same in this decade too

Thanks Shaun, these games have been fun

Tony Montana 12-06-2020 12:42 PM

Amazing top 4. :clap1: Happy with Madonna winning!

Great job again Shaun, I actually think I enjoyed this more than the 90's even though I'm a bigger fan of the latter.

I've just seen the first #1 of that decade was Rolf Harris' "Two Little Boys", so maybe it's best left alone :ninja2:

:laugh2:

In fact the whole start to the decade is GRIM, dominated by Slade, various Osmonds and novelty singles. And then ABBA come along, bring Donna Summer and disco with them, and it might actually stand a chance at being successful.

1979 alone has some diamonds that all scream potential finalist... "I Will Survive", "YMCA", "Heart of Glass", "Tragedy", "Sunday Girl", "Video Killed the Radio Star", "Cars", "Ring My Bell", "Message in a Bottle".

that's a 60s no.1 anyway so it doesn't really count.

Quite a few Gary glitter no.1s in the 70s though mind :skull:

Beso 12-06-2020 01:57 PM

And number 2s

Aaliyah 12-06-2020 03:58 PM

So glad that Michael Jackson never won! Can never listen to his music after watching Leaving Neverland and what he did to those children.

Madonna a worthy winner, LAP is a classic!

Withano 13-06-2020 02:53 PM

Madonna is a try hard **** and you’re all tragic for disagreeing with me

hijaxers 13-06-2020 06:24 PM

Well i'm so glad Whitney didn't win I can't stand her, her voice, her songs , way too much warbling for me ,as are most of the gospel folk , just stay in church.
Sorry but it makes me cringe.

Shaun 13-06-2020 07:02 PM

there's...no gospel or warbling on "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", it's a pop-by-numbers song  interesting choice of words, mind...

Yes, very racially specific wasn't it?

I got the album for my birthday when I was in grade six. It was the first tape I owned that was mine, so I will always love this song.

Nancy. 14-06-2020 02:24 PM

Omg, I really thought MJ was going to win. What a lovely surprise. :cheer2:

Saph 14-06-2020 02:27 PM

not 'I wanna dance with somebody' being gospel :skull:
