I was there on Tuesday and it was perfectly fine, but it was a Tuesday so very quiet. Saturday might be a different story, however. :worry:

I went to the beach yesterday and it was stunning & clear but we did go quite a ways up the east coast so we might have brought back some of that Grampian Covid .

Apparently a lot of lightning in the North-West of England.

This is an interesting site I found that show lightning strikes (with expanding circles for thunder) in the last hour.

LaLaLand 11-08-2020 01:47 AM

We've had sheet lightning here in North Wales constantly since about 9pm. Few rumbles of thunder here and there and one massive downpour around midnight. Much needed too!

bots 11-08-2020 06:14 AM

no rain here yet but humidity is at 91%. The air smells wet

smudgie 11-08-2020 08:50 AM

:fist:
It better rain here today.
We have dragged daughter and partner over to help dad to install a fire and fireplace.....it was meant to ruddy rain all day on and off.

Ammi 11-08-2020 09:02 AM

....oooops, I thought you said that you’d drugged your daughter there, Smudgie...(..I hope that you get your fire and fireplace installed okay...)...

bots 11-08-2020 01:44 PM

Crimson Dynamo 11-08-2020 01:51 PM

When are the Thunderstorms coming?!:fist:

Crimson Dynamo 12-08-2020 09:00 AM

Been up all night with continous thunder and lightning. all local schools are shut and half the flippin roads plus train station. The TLs step dad's street flooded at 2 am so we had to go down but the water was a foot up his door so we could not get in so he just used towels, downstairs hall got wet but his neighbour 4 down got flooded out. The dogs were a shivering wreck. We lost sky at 10.30 and its still off now. I have never seen such continous lightning over such a long period. We had quite a few flash then immediate quarry blast bangs (so very close) that set off car alarms. i am exhuasted :oh:

a street not far from the TLs dad

this was the strike map at dawn or so. we went to Amber warning

https://www.weatheronline.co.uk/date...08/12/0500.jpg

LaLaLand 12-08-2020 09:12 AM

We had sheet lighting again last night. Not as much as the previous night but still, never seen lightning like it before! Not in this country anyway.

James 12-08-2020 09:43 AM

I am wondering, how do they know the location of lightning strikes?

On a radar they can probably see something sciencey? Like a large exertion of energy or something
