iran waited 50 years nearly to get their money back, they resorted to trumped up charges, but the uk is hardly blameless

I have my doubts that it had anything to do with her release really other than in passing - incoming Iranian oil deal perhaps? I can see the conversation going thus;

"We want to make middle east oil deals cos Russia"

"Sure. But you have to pay us back that money you've owed us forever and keep refusing to repay."

"SIGH. Fine, we'll repay your money. WAIT... you have to release Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe as well since you previously said you'd do that if we paid it back."

Yes, I think there will have also been a swop of some kind... someone who I suspect is much more of a threat than Nazanin will be leaving here.

To be fair, if we were going to pay this 40 year old debt, we could have paid it 6 years ago to save her and her family 6 years of anguish.

Instead, shes been treated like a compounded car.

the bottom line is that iran falsely imprisoned someone on false charges. That is entirely irans responsibility. A country is judged by its actions toward people, it's humanity, and in that it failed miserably
