She is Crazy to take that.

On Radio 5
a Lady stated Katie has been slowing down
and breathing more hard in the early rounds

Mystic Mock 21-05-2023 01:17 AM

My guessing has been really off lately as I was expecting Katie Taylor to win.:joker:

Fair play to Cameron though.

Niamh. 21-05-2023 11:24 AM

Only just waking up now, it was a great day despite the loss

One thing about Katie is that she never avoids the tough fights. I do think she's probably getting too old now, though. It's a shame she turned pro so late in her career, really. She's an absolute hero in Ireland anyway [emoji122]

Yes I agree she is Fearless,
which is great.

But she now has a Lost Fight.

She should retire.

It’s was a split decision so she shouldn’t retire if you look at mens boxing many get beat but continue to fight.

It will be interesting if Katie Taylor initiates the rematch clause ( only she can .. as she wouldn’t agree to Cameron having it in her contract presumably in case Taylor won ) ..

Cameron intimated after the fight that she’d go down a weight and fight Taylor for HER belts ..

Let’s see how courageous Katie Taylor really is ..

I don't know why you're implying she wouldn't take that fight, she's never shied away from difficult fights

You think she will rematch at her own lower weight and risk losing all her belts ??

We shall see .. my point is that she only took the fight only if she had the option of a rematch if she won .. she didn’t allow the other girl to have a rematch to get her lost belts back ..

Seems weak to my mind .. certainly not fair

Where did you see that Chantelle wasn't allowed a rematch if she lost? I can't seem to find any articles saying that. Do you have a link?

She said it in an interview after the fight .. it will be somewhere though .

Taylor was the A lister so had the most bargaining power .

I’d never even heard of Cameron until last night oddly enough

More fool her for agreeing to put her belts on the line without a clause, then surely, what were her management thinking?

I’m guessing more kudos ( she’s officially famous now ) and it was presumably Cameron’s biggest ever payday £€$

Taylor was given all the trappings of a champion despite being the challenger. She walked second to the ring in a rarely seen break in boxing tradition and enjoyed a lengthy entrance compared to Cameron.

I just watched Chantelles post fight press conference and the rematch clause was mentioned numerous times and she never says that she didn't have one, what she said was if/when there's a rematch it will be on her terms this time (presumably where they fight etc)

Fair enough, again though that was her choice, no one forced her to sign that deal

She wanted to get some recognition or notoriety plus a decent pay day for once

So she was basically anonymous despite having the same belts as Taylor but at a higher weight class

So she got a good deal then, hardly Katie's fault that she was the bigger draw

Life isn’t fair I guess

Bit like Tank Davis weight draining Ryan Garcia then also inserting a rehydration clause then having the weigh-in late in the day so Garcia didn’t have enough time to recover properly..

All because Davis held all the cards

Not really like that at all

MTVN 21-05-2023 05:13 PM

I didn't watch but there was a lot of coverage of this in our sports news and I'm happy for Chantelle Cameron. I read this was the first big fight in Ireland since a load of trouble at a fight in 2016 which is pretty mad

Was it a good experience/atmosphere despite the result Niamh?

It was amazing, the stadium was electric and people were in good spirits eventhough Katie lost

Really .. they were both unified , undefeated champions and on an equal footing but Taylor has more financial clout so she was able to bully through a rematch clause that only SHE can invoke ..

I’d say it was very similar to what Davis did .. remember if Taylor had won and taken all Cameron’s belts the poor girl wouldn’t get the chance to win her belts back .. whereas Taylor CAN invoke the rematch clause and gets a second chance to pinch Cameron’s belts

How is that fair ?
