As for your daily life basis you don't have to tell people,but I disagree with keeping it a secret at the expense of others.

Don't see why Nadia should have told them tbf. It's not like the housemates are marrying each other, they're free to disclose as much or as little as they like about their lives pre-show

Oh come on she was used as a circus football to either laugh at or be shocked at . If they just let her be honest at the time then it would have had a better outcome for everyone. I know transgender was a new thing back then ,but the way they handled it didn't help.

They might not have been marrying eachother but they were sleeping close together,same room and living together for 3 months plus they were all getting drunk and intimate with eachother.

Keeping her identity a secret , just reminds me of that awful reality show 'There's something about Miriam ' which was exploitive and unfair & immoral to everyone involved.

I never watched that series tbh haha so can't comment on the specifics of how the issue was treated.

As a principle though I really don't see why someone should feel obliged to tell the others if they're trans. Lots of housemates will have pasts that they didn't reveal to their fellow housemates. At the time she went into the house she was a woman so what does it matter if she used to be a man?

What rights specifically do they want that they don't already have?

I’m hardly trying to argue with anyone. I just don’t see how someone keeping their trans identity hidden, has anything to do with anyone else. If they don’t feel comfortable sharing that in a certain environment, they don’t have to.

It baffles me why some people are so bothered about what genitalia someone has or how they choose to express themselves. Unless they choose to share that fact, it shouldn’t have anything to do with anybody else.

I don’t care if people don’t share my views, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. I just don’t understand the big issue with trans or people not being open about it. I’m not trans myself, but if I was, I would be too scared to come out now, and especially 5/10 years ago. When I say that all they want is rights, they just want to be accepted, and not to be alienated, or everything about them have to be something to do with their gender identity. Trans is only ‘political’ because people against trans people have made it political. All they want to do is live their lives in piece, yet they just get constantly targeted by the media, leading to more and more people targeting them online, thus leading it to being political. Just let them be.

I'll agree that the average trans person / people just want to live their lives in peace . But you can't deny there's a rise in these angry activists who wish harm on women and anyone who disagrees with their ideology??.

And it makes no sense what you're saying about Nadia,if she didn't want to tell anyone she was trans then why did she tell the BB producers and Davina before going in . Plus all the viewers knew anyway so why not tell everyone in the BB house ??? ...so it was like some bad joke that the other hm's were not aware of .

All depends which side of it you’re on tbh. All I see online, is trans people being attacked, no matter what they do, they get attacked for it. Then I’m reaction, trans people and allies defend themselves, and the media still attacks them and labels them as ‘angry’ for just defending themselves. If they weren’t attacked so much in the first place, I’m sure trans people wouldn’t talk about it so much.

I completely understand what you’re saying, but you can’t really put yourself in her shoes because (presumably) you’re not trans. Not gonna lie, I never watched that series, so I can’t talk about what went on. But from what you’ve said, it does sound very exploitive from the producers, which is disgusting imo.

I’m not trans, but as a gay man, I feel like I can understand (some) of the struggles trans people face, with issues coming out / being accepted. If I was on that series, I probably would tell the casting team that I was gay, but I doubt I would have felt comfortable with announcing that to the house, even though everyone could probably tell I am, you never know what reactions you will get or if people are going to alienate you for it. It’s the same situation. If she doesn’t want to disclose that, she doesn’t really have to.

It’s a political problem because anti trans people have made it political. All they want to do is get on with their life and be accepted for how they identity. It shouldn’t have anything to do with anyone else, but themselves.

Yet when they constantly receive political backlash from the media and anti-trans activist, of course it’s going to become political.

Tbf Nadia wasn't in a relationship with anyone in the house, so it's not like they needed to know.

I know she wasn't in any romantic relationships in the house. tbh i don't really class a romantic relationship in the BB house as authentic anyway until they leave and still continue it, but that's another topic lol.

But didn't Stuart & Jason get touchy feely with her in a game of dare ??. I remember that series of BB being wild in the sexual theme.. it seemed most of them got flirty .

I suppose I would judge the severity of that based on if Stuart or Jason ever do an interview saying that they were uncomfortable about getting touchy feely with Nadia during the game.

you'd also think he comes across as too strict, too aggressive but in fact he was very likeable dad figure of the group, and the one whom most of the time was super relaxed, also the one who spent most time in the hot tub :fan: however his military background was of good use to him in terms of discipline not spending any coins on luxury products at all for himself :worship: just a few times and then for some others

my fave moment of his was when he said thank you to fellow hm Jolien when he was allowed to hug his daughter in a freeze challenge, and he bought a donut from the wall for her and placed that near her bed :love:

I remember BB5 and Nadia. It was scandalous, even for then. I was very glad when she won. 2004 and 2023 are two completely different times though. I would practically guarantee there will be a trans person in the house this year and I would also optimistically assume that they will be open about who they are.

They'd do well to find a transperson as entertaining as Nadia, or even Luke A who stood out as a decent bloke in a house of vipers.
