Maybe you have to guess? Maybe this is the new direction for advertising. We're not going to show you what we're selling, you have to make a wild stab in the dark.

Complain something is too woke, then cant explain why its woke, typical from the snowflake right wingers, they’d rather looks stupid than admit they don’t like seeing too many black people on tv

Liam, you are the king of looking stupid.

Had the question been asked reasonably, and if the poster in question had not ridiculously invoked Godwin's law in their first post, there might have been a discussion.

So no answer on why it’s woke yet?

Just the same old talking down to people by the same woman and the contrarian posting YouTube videos and not answering why it’s woke.

Oliver_W 21-11-2024 05:51 PM

I agree with SB in that I think it's a crap advert, definitely a swing and a miss ... but I don't really see how it's woke? The "deliberate anti-aesthetic appearance" of the models is the only thing remotely woke.

Why are people responding with so-called definitions of the word "woke"? I asked what was "woke" about the advert that was posted, not what the word means to people that have been scare mongered and brainwashed into thinking all the "woke" lefties are out to get them.

Yeah, notice how we're still waiting for an answer? Apparently they can answer it.. they just don't want to :joker:

As usual Brett nails it beautifully :joker:

Yes I think it would be fair to call it "aesthetically woke" in what the visual is definitely intended to evoke. I don't think that makes the advertising in itself woke.

You could maybe call the apparent shift from fuelled cars to electric "woke"... once upon a time... a bit more difficult to do so now that the incel-king face most associated with electric vehicles is the same one permanently buried between Donald Trump's arsecheeks.

Your average anti-woke-bloke loves a bit of Musk / X so they can't really be all that against the odd electric car here and there.

Abra 21-11-2024 06:42 PM

We all know what they mean when they say "woke", they just don't have the balls to say what they mean out loud because then it's harder for them to pretend they aren't racist.

It means they're racist.

Basically the logic being used here

Right wing: "Nailed it! OWNING the libs! DESTROYING the libs!"

If you're being deliberately disingenuous and obtuse, sure. There have been plenty of opportunities to explain what is so "woke" about this advert, but so far nothing. We all know the right wing have a long history of using the word "woke" as a dog whistle to describe anything that includes people who aren't white, but sure play dumb if you think it helps you.

Came back to see if anyone had actually answered why it’s woke.

Can see the contrarian has posted more YT videos instead of an actual answer that isn’t spoon fed to him.

ok lets flip this round, what is good about the advert, it hasn't even got the iconic jaguar....how would you know what they were advertising?

Tbf I don't think this is actually accurate - when the whinging about "wokeness" starts, it's generally in reference to anything "LGBT-coded".

Generally.

In the case of this advert when they guffaw and grumble they're talking about the clothes and hairstyles. Not the diversity in race.

In this case.

Dont get me wrong they are also often racist - LT especially enjoys a little race bait dogwhistle on TiBB, though I feel like he's lost the passion for it lately because people got wise to that schtik.

But for this ad I genuinely don't think it was about race.

It literally says…… jaguar…

Alf 21-11-2024 10:53 PM

The advert is an exercise in social engineering.

They're saying. This is what the World ought to look like. Because we, a collection of self-subscribed social outcasts, marginalised people, people who are not ordinary, and would like to delete ordinary. We want our ailing consciences and our insecurities soothed.

So we have to make everything, even if it's not related to us, about us.

Alf 21-11-2024 10:56 PM

And I stole the above view, because I thought it was spot on.

That's good.

Does he want to say his real thoughts now, instead of the media trained response that all of these companies make?

For Sure.

It's hilarious how we have gotten to a point where the word "woke" is so overused it has literally become meaningless and if anything it has just became a dog whistle for the Karen's and Keith's to express their frustration every time something doesn't resemble 1930's Germany.

Woke Is The New Snowflake.

That's the main thing that I've noticed, without watching the Advert anyway.

If everyone in the advert was hot, and dressed as such, no-one would call it woke.

Crimson Dynamo 22-11-2024 07:36 AM

In the middle East regions the "advert" was shortened and they cut the guy in the dress holding the hammer

how very progressive

:skull:

Nicky91 22-11-2024 07:42 AM

this advert has nothing to do with cars, i agree with Brett, that video you posted LT

it more comes across like a fashion/inclusivity advert, rather than what they should be advertising - cars, since they are a brand of car (used to like them in F1 too tbh, all those years before Red Bull took over, especially was a fan of Eddie Irvine)

yes it does but Jaguar is associated with the iconic animal in its brand, just the word on its own is meaningless
