But other than that there is nothing political about wearing a badge to commemorate the war dead. |
just about everything in life is a political message and when you get a large group that collects together to support or attack a message, then it most certainly is political

For most people anyway, you might get the odd person that just forgets to wear one due to stressful things being on their mind. But that isn't the majority. |

Or just keep reciting to yourself that wearing one is political until you realise how daft it sounds. |
The whole poppy thing is political. It's the government begging for money to look after our ex servicemen rather than funding it directly from the government coffers. I don't think anything could be more political than that

Don't get me wrong I am not an anti-Poppy person, but there is political reasons as to why someone would choose to wear one, and like a lot of political messages there is a lot of societal pressure that you do have to wear one, otherwise you're the devil incarnate in some people's eyes. I get that it's a message that you personally agree with (I personally have no issues with that,) but if an LGBT flag is political (which it is tbf) then how is the Poppy also not political? |

Does the government own the RBL? No, the government does not own the Royal British Legion; it is a charity governed by a Board of Trustees. Here's a more detailed explanation: Independent Charity: The Royal British Legion (RBL) is a registered charity, meaning it is an independent organization that relies on donations and fundraising efforts to support its work. Board of Trustees: The RBL is governed by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for the overall management and control of the charity. Patronage: The RBL is honored to have His Majesty King Charles III as its Patron. Purpose: The RBL provides financial, social, and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families, and dependants. Campaigning Organization: The Legion is also a campaigning organization that promotes the welfare and interests of current and former members of the British Armed Forces. |

Imagine being someone who thinks whisky constitutes a fine breakfast, 2 days off a week is too many, cannabis is more destructive than alcohol and being a gay footballer or in demonstrable support of it is too woke.
