I don't see the point you guys are trying to make. The show is called the X-Factor not pop idol and is supposed to give people who don't have the chance an opportunity to become brofessional singers.:bored:
What's a brofessional? Is it slang for a professional brother?
It's a typo. Have you nowt better to do than correct my typo's.:bored:

Yes. The X-Factor to me is about creating a star. Someone who will appeal to the masses and become really successful. A superstar if you like. Rhydian is not it imo.

If they want someone to appeal to the masses then why do they let 40 years old apply?

I have no idea. I also think that they should not have lowered the age limit this year. Just my opinion of course.

So, would you prefer it to be more like American Idol? I would too.

Because people beyond the age of 25 buy music too. Rhydian is not fit for the pop charts - he's a classically trained opera singer. This point has been done to death, but that's the key element. It's why Ray got slated last year, because he was singing like Frank Sinatra every week. Should that have been a criticism? No. That's a good talent to have. But it doesn't sell in the pop charts - illustrated clearly by the fact he's disappeared.

A good point. I totally agree but MrLuvaLuva thinks that this show should appeal to the masses. If so then why are there so many categories. Why dont they just pick the best twelve acts regardless of whether they're Male, female, over 25 or a group.

It does if Simon is to make a good return on the million pound recording contract and wants people to watch the show.

How many people on TiBB would watch a Opera talent show? I bet not that many.

Quite a few people watched the Joseph and Maria shows. I think an opera telant contest might get more viewers than people think.

Actually, it doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm not the biggest fan of opera, but if it was a show where you could just hear fantastic singing (in whatever style), I'd be quite interested. To me, it really is all about the singing when it comes to singing talent shows, rather than all the gimmicks.

Maybe the BBC or ITV will take note and produce something for varied musical tastes and singing styles.

Then we can kick the Opera singers out of the X Factor for good and Rhydian can show case his talents in the right sort of show.

I thought that was the idea? To get and train someone to appeal to a vast music audience. Correct me if I am wrong as that is my interpretation of the show. The categories give variety. A group could win, as so could a male/female singer. It's about getting the best of the best. You obviously have different views.

I do have different views. I thought the show was about talent. If you don't want Rhydian because of his musical style then surely you dont want Niki to win for quite similar reasons. Why then were they both put through to the live finals? Why not go back to Pop Idol because a 40 year old winner of X-factor only has a limited appeal. You seem to have a totally different idea for the direction of the show than the producers. I'd hate a show that was exclusive to attractive 14-24 year old but that seems to be what some people want.
