Cool, 'cause Jack had the same number of steps as me, I counted mine as 5 and he counted his as 4, it made me wonder.

Yeah, basically whenever you click a link it's a step.

i was debating over this
but i count basically:

starting - 1st step - 2nd step - destination [counted as a step - 3 steps]
or
starting step - 1st step - 2nd step - destination [still 3 steps..]
