If they don't rush it and market her right it will be good. We need her to be a pop star not a ballad singer like Leona.

MarkWaldorf 18-01-2009 06:02 PM

No one cares about Leon, thats why it flopped. Even his winners single sold dismally! Alexandra is the fastest selling female artist ever in the UK...over a million copies of Hallelujah sold in under a month. I have a feeling she'll be fine.

I think that if they are to leave it that long, they need to spend a lot of money on Advertising, like they did with Leona. I would like her to become like Beyonce, with Fast fun songs and slow ballads, because, she has the voice to do both

I hope so! She really deserves it! I think Generally, the x factor is getting bigger each year, so to win it, you know you are going to be huge. But Leon just didn't have that sparkle, like all of the previous X factor winners, Excluding Steve and Shayne.. Leaving Leona? So yes, I think if you are a Femal winner, you have a huge chance of success because you can sing in all kinds of tones and generally, whip us guys backsides with big the big voices we have seen

Fom 18-01-2009 06:07 PM

Which is great, because I am going to win X factor this year so I am guaranteed success! :dazzler:

Rihanna warns Alexandra off

Rihanna is keeping boyfriend Chris Brown on a tight leash - she has banned him from having any contact with British pop star Alexandra Burke, according to reports.

Burke - who won the British equivalent of American Idol, X Factor, in December last year - has made no secret of her crush on Brown.

So, in a bid to keep any love rivals at bay, Umbrella hitmaker Rihanna reportedly banned Alexandra from an after-party following 19-year-old Chris' gig at London's O2 Arena earlier this month.

A source tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "Alex was mortified. She had no idea she had been banned from meeting her idol.

"She's a massive fan of Chris Brown – she said numerous times on The X Factor how much she fancies him and wants to meet him.

"Since she and Chris are both with Sony, she asked label bosses if they could arrange for her to meet him at the after-party.

"They said that was fine, they would sort it out.

"Poor Alex was so excited about hooking up with Chris that she was even thinking of entering a radio competition to meet him."

Hit 40 uk have her at number 8

what does bbc / hit 40 judge it on?

Fom 18-01-2009 06:15 PM

See my plan is... I go in, be talented but then be edgy, say I wanna be the male equivalent of Kelly Clarkson (Who will be top of the charts when auditions are on). They love it... and no one wants another female to win, so I have great odds!

Whoops getting ahead of myself.

Anyone got any songs of Alexandras before x factor?

I have heard there are some

MarkWaldorf 19-01-2009 01:12 PM

Nope :/ Didn't release there was!

beanny 19-01-2009 01:36 PM

Ooh i would like to hear them if there is any around too!

Sorry to say i am happy Hallelujah is dropping down the charts, getting a tad dull now. I need to hear new material!

Lewis. 20-01-2009 07:02 PM

I agree with the Hallelujah statement above. I think that It is getting overplayed, and is now a tad old! But i still love singing along when it is on the radio!

New Story in!

Quote:

Lady GaGa has said that X-Factor star Alexandra Burke is just a "talent show wannabe", whilst she worked hard to get where she is today.

GaGa says: "I did this the way you are supposed to. I played every club in New York and found myself as an artist. I learned how to survive as an artist and how to fail and then figure out who I was as a singer and performer. And I worked hard".

Oo-er!

xDramatick 20-01-2009 07:10 PM

^ She has a point, the same applies to all reality show winners IMO.

Lewis. 20-01-2009 07:21 PM

I do agree with her, but Alexandra does have the talent to be big

Fom 20-01-2009 07:27 PM

Singers like that need to get over it and realise its a new generation now, new ways of getting into the industry. She is just jealous because she didnt make it this way.

Lewis. 20-01-2009 07:28 PM

I do not think she could have made it this way, she is probably like every other pop singer out there, computerised

Lewis. 22-01-2009 04:32 PM

New Hero Video

Alexandra Burke singing Hero at the Millies

Lewis. 22-01-2009 05:21 PM

She's probably preparing for the tour/having a break.

james_h 22-01-2009 06:21 PM

her voice has been nackered. i think she is working her voice wayy to hard. i know she has to stay in the limelight to not be forgotten but she really needs to stop before she ruins her voice...you can hear it when shes singing hero in that video.

Lewis. 22-01-2009 06:31 PM

The mother of X Factor winner Alexandra Burke wept tears of anger yesterday after being told she is being investigated as a suspected benefits cheat.

Furious Melissa Bell, 44, protested her innocence as she stormed: “They’re idiots – I’ll sue them!”

The probe centres on claims that the mum-of-four – a former soul singer – has been getting paid for gigs while claiming benefits worth £17,344 a year.

Every venue the mum-of-four has appeared at within the last six months has been contacted by investigators.

Alexandra, 20, clinched the £1million a year X Factor winner’s contract and had a Christmas No 1. Now it is alleged her mother should no longer be claiming full benefits.

Melissa, who has severe diabetes, gets a monthly £258 disability living allowance and £124 per week in income support. Her weekly £150 rent and council tax fees are covered by housing benefit.

Bosses at Islington council in North London decided to launch an investigation after Alexandra and her mum are said to have discussed singing publicly together.

Melissa says the first she heard about the probe was when the Mirror contacted her. “I simply couldn’t believe it,” she said.

“But I rang the council and they have admitted I am under suspicion of benefit fraud. I’m absolutely outraged.”

Earlier this month we exclusively revealed how Melissa stepped in to sing at La Veranda restaurant in Carshalton, Surrey, on Christmas Day when Alex was unable to take the stage.

But she insists she has never had any professional gigs while she has been claiming benefits – and any money she did receive went straight to charity.

She revealed the council initially wrote to her last year demanding she start paying rent because Alexandra had finished college.

She said: “They think Alex is supporting me. If she’s giving me money I have to declare it – but she hasn’t. She’s not allowed to live in my house because that would cancel my benefits, but she’s not. Alex came here for Christmas but she doesn’t actually live with me.

“It looks like I’m a fraud because Alex came and stayed with her sick mother over Christmas for a few days.

“The council can come and search me right now. Officials have looked online at all the places I have appeared at and have contacted them all.

“But any money I’ve received I’ve given to the Kidney Patient Association.

“I am very mindful of the rules. On Christmas Day I stepped in for Alex at a restaurant because but I didn’t get paid – I got a Christmas dinner.

“I also sang at my hospital for the patients, but I didn’t get paid for that, either. I’m really upset about all this and very alarmed.”

If found guilty of the most serious offences, Melissa faces up to seven years in prison or an unlimited fine.

At the time of Alexandra’s X Factor victory last December Melissa was having to visit hospital three times a week for dialysis after collapsing with kidney failure in July.

Anxious Alex told viewers: “My mum’s really, really ill and I have to get her a kidney.”

Islington council refused to comment yesterday. A spokesman said: “We never discuss individual cases.”

Bump. Apparently Alexandra's new album release has been prospered until the autumn instead of the originally planned March release.
