I liked River until Series 6/7 which completely ruined her

Firewire 19-09-2015 08:22 PM

I agree I liked her before then. I hope she's good at Christmas since she's been off-screen for a while.

I thought it was okay, I think it would have worked better as an extended episode rather than a two parter though since the story isn't interesting enough to carry two episodes.

good point.

Firewire 19-09-2015 10:13 PM

I take it part 2 is about the Doctor finding Clara

Tom4784 19-09-2015 10:15 PM

On the plus side though, Missy <3

yea I agree they could've just chucked 20 minutes onto the end where all the issues are resolved, it didn't make me feel like I can't wait to find out what happens next cause predictable

Lostie! 19-09-2015 10:35 PM

The Toni Basil promo though <3

Nah, honestly, I'm glad its a two parter, got tired of having all the plots magically wrapped up in the last 5 minutes of episodes. I thought tonight was a decent opener. Good to see they finally referenced the Shadow Proclimation again :joker:

Not surprising really, I'm getting a bit tired of Moffatt's episodes tbh. They reek of his vanity and Moffatt's too focused on being seen as clever rather than giving us an entertaining episode.

Time for someone else to take over, he has lost his touch.

This is 100% true, David Tenants were simple but entertaining and appealed to kids.

I was obsessed with DW when I was like 7, but I don't know any young kids who like it.

It's a more grown up show now IMO.

Firewire 20-09-2015 10:58 AM

The Empty Child did not appeal to kids

Tom4784 20-09-2015 12:17 PM

Moffatt was better when he only wrote one story a series. His episodes in series 1-4 were the best episodes of Doctor Who but I think his style of writing doesn't work for whole seasons.

The problem is that he now values clever gimmicks over a good story. He needs to go back to what made his earlier episodes good.

Neither did blink :worry:

BBfanUSA 20-09-2015 02:29 PM

Was the music louder than the dialogue for you guys?

The US broadcast was pretty loud last night

Yeah the audio balance was off a bit, the dialogue was a bit quiet.

Rob! 20-09-2015 05:01 PM

Davros didn't help by having his hand over his mouth :joker:

Rob! 26-09-2015 12:57 PM

So perched for tonight :flutter:

AProducer'sWetDream 26-09-2015 01:03 PM

Hopefully it lives up to the first part- very positive reviews :fc:

Every review I've read bar one has said it's much better than the first part. Apparently
Spoiler:

a large part of the episode is just conversation between the Doctor and Davros
which sounds amazing :amazed:

Scarlett. 26-09-2015 01:09 PM

Can't wait.

Don't get why some people hated on last weeks episode, it was a pretty straightforward plot, no massive twists. Only people who would be confused is those who have no idea who Davros is.

Rob! 26-09-2015 01:12 PM

Last week was an absolutely fantastic episode. Say what you like about Moffat but his writing for Davros was spot on.
Skaro being back was a great move that I'm surprised never happened sooner.

Glenn. 26-09-2015 01:14 PM

I can't wait for the Doctor and Davros tonight
