Trump doesn't give a crap about anything or anyone but himself. He doesn't even make any attempt to hide it. How anyone can think he is the right candidate to be president is beyond me, but here we are :laugh:

He's the Alt + F4 of politics. It's all a literal joke, that's why. I still vote in all elections out of obligation, but I don't see any particular reason to go other than Propositions, tax cuts (State-related) to go the polls and to keep out fringe lunacy. The numbers are low for all elections where I am now.

Someone made an observation that sticks with me to this day, that they suspect that a lot of the insane politics we see today were purposefully /thrust on us to keep down the power of the internet down to a level that it isn't a threat to the power of govt. That clicked because I recall a time before the "new" new politics when people were more center-aligned (especially on the Internet), the prominence of investigative blogging, indie journalism which was just budding and all of it was starting to make real impacts and push us towards a growing consensus of change... it really did look like a world that could lead to a higher good and in a way not really anyone disagreed with? Smaller voices were having a much more extensive impact for the first time I think... Then seemingly overnight literal insanity started flooding the mainstream and that part of the Internet that was doing good was suddenly cannibalized by the major platforms. Prior to that, coming into new information was fairly organic and seeing common sense discussion surrounding that was far more common... it really does make one question what tf happened?... </conspiracy hat>

It all balances out in the end, people will start to see they're being manipulated and whatever it was that became prominent with that will become more repellent... there's only so many people one can deceive before tracks are discovered, so I don't tend to worry about what is/isn't true in the moment as I see time (and experience) as the best agent for a revelation... hopefully our children aren't so easily swayed by rhetoric, and I think that that will be the case thanks to us new parents growing up through such intense years of propaganda... I would say the US has been propaganda heavy for the last 2 decades (around 9/11 maybe-ish?) and I can't speak for others, but I'm more than way over it...
