yesterday evening i watched 2067 (2020) starring Kodi Smit McPhee, sciencefiction timetravel movie, about being sent 400 years into the future trying to find a cure for earth's oxygen crisis

very enjoyable 9/10

and just now i had seen Vanquish (2021) starring Ruby Rose and Morgan Freeman, about a retired police officer who kidnaps a woman's daughter to get her to do some work for him, to tie up certain loose ends within criminal underworld

also very enjoyable, and even if Morgan gets older and older, his acting skills remain fab

8.5/10

LaLaLand 27-07-2021 12:42 AM

The Great Gatsby

I found this REALLY dull. Nice to look at don't get me wrong, but I just thought the acting and story was just a bit crap. :omgno:

2 hours I'll never get back. Don't know how I stuck it to the end tbh.

4/10 just for the visuals.

Fear Street: 1666

great last part of this trilogy, the visuals and attention for detail to that particular decade are also very stunning

conclusion of the story to say without spoilers, simply amazing

and again same as with other parts, i also got that ''stranger things'' vibe from its cast, or at least some similarities in certain scenes

9.5/10

Stan and Ollie.
A beautiful homage to one of my favourite comic duo

The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - I enjoyed it, it was easy watching with a good cast and who doesn't love Ryan Reynolds playing Ryan Reynolds? 6/10

**Ammi there was a lot of gratuitous violence I don't think you would like :p

Amy Jade 27-07-2021 04:25 PM

Old

I rarely agree with critics but this is just as awful as they are saying. I was cringing at pretty much everything.

…thank you…….I’ll give that one a miss for the moment…

…Jolt……the characters weren't hugely in depth…probably because it was only 90 minutes long so the whole thing felt very zipped through at full speed …it felt quite a lot as though it was a pilot type movie for a series…?..or at the least, it felt laid out for a follow up movie ….it just felt quite ‘condensed’ and low budget…anyways, though…I actually did enjoy it for what it was…Kate Beckingsale was perfectly cast and is always a great ‘tongue in cheek’ actress, so was perfect for the role….she kicked that ass when that ass needed kicking and looked amazing while she was kicking…Stanley Tucci is always a good addition to a movie …and the twist wasn’t WOW, it was a bit predictable…but it was all fun anyway…fun and fast moving and a fairly fine way to spend 90 minutes…6/10…

Riders of justice. Brilliant!

Smithy 28-07-2021 09:34 AM

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions

I hadn’t seen the first, but it didn’t really matter; there was enough flashbacks for me to get the gist, it’s pretty much saw meets the hunger games, decent enough 7/10

…Calibre……intense and heart wrenching and terrifying…

Spoiler:

…I could not have predicted that ending…because the festival bonfire had been mentioned, I actually thought that Vaughn and Marcus were going to be burned alive on the bonfire…I found the ending really incredibly emotional because these were men who had mad horrendous choices, they were not horrendous men ….

…when Vaughn held his child before the credits and stared ahead, I thought that he was going to see Logan and the others through the window and that they had come for his son…a child for a child…?…

…an emotionally draining 8.5/10….

Nicky91 31-07-2021 01:02 PM

One of my favourites.

Ammi 01-08-2021 05:30 AM

Crawl…ridiculously silly
Spoiler:

…how many times did she get bitten and it just seemed to be surface type wounds and yet with other bit part actors, those bites were accurately precise and deadly
and hugely entertaining with lots of jump moments…a perfect Saturday evening movie.…I really like Kaya Scodelario as an actress, I saw her recently in a series called Spinning Out and she’s someone who’s so very watchable and totally held you to the screen and to those gators snapping at her heels…anyways, don’t live in Florida in the rain, I think…is the moral of the story….great fun with sharp teeth and lots of holding breath moments of suspense so I think maybe a 7.5/10….

Alf 01-08-2021 07:01 AM

Watched "Once upon a time in Hollywood" for the first time last night.

Definitely one of Tarantino's weakest along with Jackie Brown and Death Proof.

ThomasC 01-08-2021 11:11 AM

Red Blood Sky on Netflix.

This is 100% my sort of film... Hyjacking of a plane.

But then it gets ridiculously far fetched, but still fun.
