Metroland - 5/10

It felt a bit disjointed. The French parts of it were really good, but the English parts not so much. Have almost seen all of Bale's films now, and this is probably the worst one so far. Although it's still fairly decent

The paperboy 7/10

what a cast this was Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, John Cusack, Macy Gray, , this is one sleazy movie , nicole kidman deserves a osca great performance by her she is always so different in her movies really takes on the character. very dodgy scenes in this movie good film that doesn't mess about .

SKYFALL ( James bond ) 7.10

wow this film was long. not really a bond fan at all but it was a good film the baddie whatever his name is was great really made the movie. could of put some better bond girls in it though. pretty poor on the eye candy.

MTVN 01-02-2013 11:35 PM

The Change-Up - don't know why it got as bad reviews as it did really, quite obvious and predictable plot & humour but still thought it was a really funny & watchable film - 7.5/10

My last 2 films have been Blade Runner (again) and In Bruges (again)

Blade runner as it's a classic and you have to try very hard to get the release on Blu Ray that has Harrison doing the voice-over which is just perfect of a modern Raymond Chandler/Bogey crime story (Blade Runner anoraks hate it)

In bruges cos I was in bruges for new year time and it's just like the cinematography.

Big Trouble is literally one of my favourite films, I used to watch it so much as a kid.

Django

Was great. Waltz was amazing

Only downside was Quentin's truly horrific cameo

9/10

Shaun 03-02-2013 02:23 AM

also django unchained

actually loved the tarantino bit... the outcome of it anyway... but i agree it was flawless. well, except the scene with the KKK because that dragged on a little too long, and also some of the violence was reaaaaaaally ****ing nasty, like, worst of a Tarantino film I've seen nasty.

Hilarious in parts, moving in others, bad-ass throughout  9/10.

Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011)

Girl escapes insane cult, attempts to get her life back to normal but keeps having flashbacks. That's the pitch.

Elizabeth Olson is the best actor in the film, but that's not saying much - the rest range from dull and miscast to incompetent derisory.

The script, such as it is, is uninspired and repetetive.

The story starts with the runaway from the cult hiding in the forest to avoid the cult-members chasing her then she decides to go to the local burger bar in the town just down the road. So, why did she stop so soon when she was on the run, where did she get the money, why did the cult-member who immediately found her then just leave her there? Unnatural and a bad start.

After that the Martha was relocated 3 hours away into a luxurious lakeside mansion set in stunning scenery but the film itself failed to go anywhere in creating any point in the viewer caring for any of the characters or bothering to fathom out rhyme or reason for the characters' actions (wouldn't a localised major crime-wave in the Catskills have raised the interest of a law enforcement gency?), least of all at the eventual abrupt end of this seemingly interminable and pointless movie.

John Hawkes, "playing" the cult leader, asserts that that no one dies, that death is just a transfer of life to an alternate reality - well, I died ..... of boredom.

Highly overrated and totally missable.

oh also before Django Unchained I saw 'The Princess Bride' for the first time. I bought it on Blu-Ray for Christmas because I knew it'd be good.

I loved every bit of it  And Mandy Pitinkin was bloody sexy. 10/10.

Tom4784 05-02-2013 03:00 AM

Princess Bride

I'm gonna have to watch that tomorrow, I ****ing love that film.
