I'll give it the benefit of the doubt as they're trying to flesh out the back story, but it wasn't great tbh.

That Carol guy did hint that he has some amazing things planned, so I'll give it the first season at least, but it's a bit meh.

tbf, Dexter didn't hook me till a few episodes in and it turned out to be my favourite TV series so I'll give this a few episodes before I judge it as well
