better than a 7 tbh  (I'd cite In Bruges as a 9 and SP as an 8)

Donkey Punch - 7/10
It's the type of film I enjoy, It's a group of teens that just like die. I mean, I like silly thriller films around teenagers that isn't hard to follow.

Lost In Translation - Not seen it for years. Quite enjoyed it, a good touching easy Saturday night film. 7/10

50/50

must admit nearly cried. emotional

could have done to have a longer start to get to know who JGL's character was though. Was barely 10mins in before he found out he had cancer

and no one in their right mind would dump Bryce Dallas Howard

8.8/10

GypsyGoth 09-02-2013 11:21 PM

Just watched Hard Rain. I seen it before, a few parts don't make sense. 5/10

Ammi 10-02-2013 04:16 AM

Magnolia. Interesting, strange... long. It was a clever premise but I didn't connect with most of the characters. 6.5/10

Taken 2. Great car chase, excellent fights, plot a little bit thin and predictable. Not nearly as good at the first one. 7/10

I do. The reason is that Taken 2 is an upfront action film and doesn't try to be all meaningful and up its own arse. it's a brain-in-neutral kind of film. Nothing wrong with that.

Magnolia, as far as I'm concerned, tried too hard. The only character I had any sympathy for was the male nurse, the rest were just unlikeable. The music was too loud over much of the dialogue, although that was obviously a "thing". I laughed out loud at the frogs. Was I supposed to? Probably not. Pretentious. That is all.

Watched Duplicity on tv last night, Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. Wasn't a bad way to pass a couple of hours. Liked the ending.

Tom4784 11-02-2013 03:17 PM

Magnolia is an overlong pretentious bore and I say that as a snob that eats that type of **** right up. It completely missed the memo that less is more.

Shaun 11-02-2013 06:20 PM

Argo.

All very good and I loved the cast, and the story did grip me... but the film didn't wow me in the same sense that Django Unchained or Les Miserables did. So I'd rather they won Best Picture. Still a great movie though - 9/10.

Lee. 11-02-2013 06:26 PM

Was Les Mis utterly fantastic Shaun?

Shaun 11-02-2013 06:28 PM

Twas  my housemates hated it... and tbf some of the singing is terrible... but I dunno. Might just be because I hadn't seen any production / read the book of it before.
