Boys
Jack: I didn't mind this performance but it wasn't your best, Nicky if you didn't like it, why did you pick this song? I thought it was alright but you need to do something completely unique next time to get any further Luke: it was one of my favourites by you. I like this song and it suited your rock edge. Great job Overs Tyler: I'm sorry but it was far to safe, I told you to take a risk and this wasn't it, it was forgettable and far from original Sarah: your best performance to date you really suit the 80s. Your really improving in this show I hope you are still in next week Groups: Reggie n Bollie: good song choice. Dance moves were great, I agree you need to work on the vocals but you guys are good at what you do Little mix: that was a pile of babybels on a cloud of candy floss, cheesy and far too sweet and I didn't like it... I LOVED IT! But I want your sass to come back next week what you did at the Brits was exceptional please bring that to the show My girls Cher: well it paid off in the end to change the song choice. Your nerves did show and there were a few pitch problems but your rapping and dancing were on point and I think you deserve to stay Alex: I was nervous about picking a mashup but I feel it's your best performance to date and honestly could be a number 1 record. Standing ovation Amelia: yes yes yes yes!!!!! Brilliant!! Janet: well done Janet you delivered the best performance you have given so far, your dancing was actually quite good so you needn't be nervous, you looked like you were having fun and I detected a country twang to your voice this week so that's interesting, I'd quite like you to perform a duet with Tyler actually that would be cool Duets: Janet and Amelia: well done girls great song great harmonies great performance Tyler and Sarah: Sarah good job, Tyler that didn't suit your voice in sorry Alexandra and Cher: I disagree Nicky I think you both were really good! It was a powerful sing off Tyler, Sarah and Jack: love this song and I loved that performance you all mixed really well and it was interesting Girls: you all really stood out and I don't want to lose any of you this week My votes this week go to: Luke Friend Sarah Cassidy Reggie n Bollie Little Mix |
well my votes are going to:

with Jack, Kirk will choose his songs from next week as he is now the coach of the boys but about Tyler, i know it was a bit safe, but that was because of his sore throat, but i promise you more risks for next week, if we hopefully get the chance |
time for a guest performance, it's Rihanna with the song Work from her new album Anti
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL1UzIK-flA |
but Jake, i would also like to see Tyler duet with Janet, that would be awesome
but i feel like my team isn't popular with you, what should Tyler do to win you back? |

All Tyler needs to do is sing something that isn't country like a popular Motown song and just make it his own. That makes him original. Him singing a song by another country singer makes him look like a tribute

Reggie N Bollie with the song Thriller by Michael Jackson
I'm afraid that these boy's infectious 'feel good' personalities are far in advance of their singing voices, but they are entertaining visually. The problem which they have here though is that ANY copy of an iconic classic is always going to prompt comparisons with the original, and this choice is SOME big ask when it is Thriller by MJ. All such a comparison does unfortunately, is highlight Reggie and Bollies' deficiencies. Cher Lloyd with the song Just be Good to me by SOS Band I'm in a minority who doesn't feel that CL is a strong singer, but she is good enough to get away with her performsance here. Not the greatest performance for me however. Sarah Cassidy with the song Every Breath You Take by The Police Give a beautiful song to a beautiful girl who has a beautiful voice, and we get a beautiful result. I agree with Nicky that she put her own stamp on this and it is one of my favourite performances. Luke Friend with the song Sweet Child O'Mine by Guns N Roses It was a pleasant performance, but I cannot escape the feeling that Luke is slightly out of his comfort zone with this song and struggled to really interpret it by putting his own spin on it. Little Mix with the song Heaven is a place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle One of the most successful current girls group singing one of the most memorable commercial hits of the 80's by an ex-member of an highly successful girl group of that era, and the result is pure pop dynamite. Amelia Lily with the song Call Me by Blondie Debby Harry slayed me in the 70's and 80's, and Amelia Lily slays me now. THIS is THE performance of the night for me, and both Amelia and the song choice are beyond criticism. Perfect matching. I could see Richard Gere in 'American Gigolo' as I listened. Janet Devlin with the song Let's Hear it for the boys by Deniece Williams I love this song and Janet nails it perfectly - making it her own without destroying the essence of the original. Jack Walton with the song Gold by Spandau Ballet I like Jack, but this is not an easy song choice for him and I think he 'went through the motions' with his performance of it - as if he did not really care enough for the song. Not one of his better performances. Alexandra Burke with the song mashup of Like a Prayer and Take me to Church by Madonna&Hozier Alex is such a polished professional now and always seems to deliver a solid performance. I love this. Tyler Hudson with the song When you say nothing at all by Keith Whitley Tyler delivered the emotionally charged performance which this classic demands, but I did not enjoy it as much as I know I should have. I don't know if the reason is that the song has been 'covered to death' - which isn't Tyler's fault - but it just did not grab me like some of the others have. First duet of the night, Amelia Lily and Janet Devlin with the song Don't you forget about me by Simple Minds. Their voices melded beautifully, but I am such an Amelia Lily fan, that virtually ANYONE singing a duet with her her is going to be eclipsed visually and vocally - in my opinion. Still, a really brilliantly enjoyable duet and I forgive Janet's slight struggle for prominence. Tyler Hudson and Sarah Cassidy with the song Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush Anything by Kate Bush is UP THERE and this classic song is no exception. A great song choice for this duos voices which synched perfectly, and a great performance. Third and final duet is Alexandra Burke and Cher Lloyd with the song Fame by Irene Cara. I think Cher'sweaker voice and much more limited range is the reason why this duet did not quite come off. I have to say that of all Jake's girls, Cher is the one who is most legitimately labelled as a 'One Trick Pony' and outside of her own 'bag' she struggles - especially when paired with more powerful singers. First group performance is Tyler Hudson and Sarah Cassidy and Jack Walton with the song Karma Chameleon by Culture Club WOW - A homage to Boy George's classic which didn't mangle the melody out of all recognoition. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this version and think it would be a massive hit if it was released as a single. Second and final group performance, here are Amelia, Alexandra, Cher and Janet with the song What a Feeling by Flashdance ( Irene Cara) The two powerful voices here manage to all but hide Cher's weaker voice and range, and all three pull this off. Such a seminal song doesn't harm their cause either. A really great coupling of singers to song. My Vote: 1) Amelia Lily. 2) Little Mix 3) Sarah Cassidy 4) Alexandra Burke |
