Hollyoaks star Jonny Clarke has promised that his character will be at the centre of a new, controversial storyline.

The actor plays Bart McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, who has already been involved in a stabbing and a sex change plot since arriving in the village.

"I've got this big storyline coming up in Hollyoaks, which should be exciting and quite controversial. I really can't wait to nail the performance," Clarke told i-D.

Speaking of how he landed a role in Hollyoaks, he added: "I basically was really bad at school, just got really bad grades. I knew I needed to earn a living and I knew I wanted to be an actor, but I wanted a certain skill so I could earn money whilst I was doing it. I thought hairdressing maybe.

"I went to my Dad who got me an agent and I got a job doing a viral thing for a university and then an audition came up for Hollyoaks a week later. I just went to audition and then on the drive back home with my Mum they said I got the part."

Clarke recently admitted that he was "so nervous" about filming Bart's shock stage invasion at a Wretch 32 concert in London last year.

-----------------------

More of the teens I guess, shame I like some, but others I dont, and Bart is one I dont like, I presume the storyline will involve his father, or him getting some serious disability in a crash from that Neil guys driving.

Not really liking where ES is going with Hollyoaks at the moment. It's almost in danger of becoming like the Lucy Allen era. It seems she just cut off all the good plots to start her own, and all they seem to be are teen dominated. What's worse is there are no long term spoilers, so fans don't even have anything to look forward to.

I don't mind the George and Callum story, that's something different to normal teenage life. But Neil and this driving story is just one long bore-fest.

I was to see more of the long term characters involved and not just focus on all the new characters.

Not sure if you guys are aware, or even care...

Emma Rigby is in a new BBC drama on Tuesdays at 9pm called Prisoners' Wives.

InOne 29-01-2012 03:51 PM

Yeah, I might record it, not sure yet. It's good she got a lead part though.

Visage 29-01-2012 04:12 PM

From what I've heard, it looks set to be a real gritty drama. I'm also please Emma got a lead role.

I would rather watch the Emma Smithwick era of Hollyoaks than the Lucy Allan era so far;). Hopefully they listen to all the feedback!

Yeah I read about Emma's role in Inside Soap, first episode is based on her character and i'll give it a go:).

Hollyoaks bosses have begun casting for a deaf teenage character who will join the soap later this year, Digital Spy has learned.

Show chiefs are looking for a young deaf actor who will play a 16-year-old male character named Mikey on the programme.

The newcomer will initially appear as a guest on the teen drama, but it is thought that he could later become a regular.

Hollyoaks will also put Mikey at the centre of an online spinoff initiative which feeds into his role on the main soap.

An online casting call for the part reads: "Hollyoaks is looking for a deaf actor over 16 years old. This is a brilliant role for a young deaf actor.

"After a few initial episodes, the role will feature heavily in groundbreaking online material, before returning to the show and potentially becoming a regular character.

"Actors can be fully or partially deaf, must be able to communicate in sign language, and must be either 16 or older and able to realistically play 16."

Digital Spy understands that the early details of Mikey's role are subject to change as character and storyline plans are often altered after the casting stage.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with a first-look screening at 7pm on E4.

More teens, great :joker:

bbfan1991 29-01-2012 10:46 PM

They don't learn and the cast is getting bigger each time:joker:.

bbfan1991 30-01-2012 05:43 PM

Surely they could have given Tony a better storyline than that as Nick Pickard is one of their best Actors, total joke that the teens get favoured all the time:bored:.

I enjoyed George dissing Maddie:D.

bbfan1991 30-01-2012 05:52 PM

George was nasty to Frankie then when she was only trying to help:eek:.

I can't remember the last time Tony had a great story.

He needs a good woman by his side.

I was disappointed with George in this scene. I really feel for this character and I want to support, but I won't support the way he spoke to Frankie.

I feel for Georges character & feel he went a bit overly onFrankie at this scene but she is a nosey cow & he's sussed her. He came out looking the bad one tho for sure

bbfan1991 30-01-2012 09:23 PM

Teen Mania is doing my bloody head in but I always stay loyal and watch the show:).

InOne 31-01-2012 01:40 AM

Seems to be the same scenes with the teens every week

Callum offers to help, George says he doesn't need help and Callum doesn't "get it"

Maddie walks around like a slapped arse glaring at Ruby

Neil acts like a twat

Jono and Ruby have "awkwardness" but get there in the end

Bart grins like a moron and Sinead shrieks some unknown nonsense

Summed up pretty well InOne.

DrunkerThanMoses 31-01-2012 07:24 AM

Yep Inone is right

I think the need to axe Jono, Neil, Bart and Sinead, and keep the others
