I'm not necessarily saying it's wrong - it's just different. The only difficulty I see it that it leads to feelings of bias, which is exaserbated when mods start bringing-in things from offsite.

When mods have particular groupings of pals (and are seen to be engaging-in/leading chatter) within the user group or from MSN, whatever - then (rightly or wrongly) my perception is that they will be unable to act in an objective/value neutral way.

When thre proportion of mods to active users is low this probably ain't even a consideration. When mods start outnumbering users I believe it is.

The site still amuses me no-end probably for these reasons which is why I'm addicted to it.

Tbf yeah, mods shouldnt bring offsite stuff on here...I agree. But in this case I really dont see a problem, it seems a bit like you are letting your personal feelings about andy get in the way of it all. Its really not that big a deal to get votes in something like this from him, especially as he voted in the first round.

Also, to enhance my earlier point I was sure I had done a poll on this faceless mods thing before and I found it here(also 3 of the mods who voted on it, were not mods at that time :p)

Some good ideas are brought up in that thread, but in general...only one person who voted had a problem with the mods being members too.

Also about this msn thing...Again I dont see a problem with mods chatting to other members offsite at times. I have like 35 members on msn, talk to probably aboout 15 ish...yet if they break rules I still infract/ban them, so bias doesnt come into it for me. Hell, the one person I spend like hours and hours talking too on msn is currently on a 2 week ban given by me(edit..no it wasnt given by me, but I did suggest it :p...and I have banned him previously for weeks before). So this whole friends thing just doesnt come into it.

I hope when they are back they stick to the rules, Tommy can be funny without spamming and jessica can hold a conversation, yet they both just go and spam :(

You are a little self contradictory Vicks - you said mods shouldn't bring in things from offsite. Which banned member did you post on their behalf their preferred Christmas ID?

To be honest (and I think I'm talking on behalf of a lot of people here) I don't think I've seen either of them add anything remotely interesting or funny. They just post continual nonsense. The forum is a much nicer place when they're not around.

Since the closing date was still whilst jess was banned, I dont see a problem with this either.

I know a lot of people feel that and maybe I'm wrongly gifting them too much for inside my head - but I often feel they're doing it for the pathos/point making of many other things that happen here.

those two wouldn't last 2 days on any other forum I know of. They'd be permabanned instantly.

Here, it took months of annoying spam before they even got a decent length ban. They made the mods look like fools IMO.

Thats more the infraction system than anything else, with the way the forum used to work they would have been permabanned months ago. I much preferred the old system.

Though now, no infractions are being used on them anymore, its just straight out bans, increasing each time the spamming happens and leading to permanent if they keep pushing it. Should chill it a lot.

Jessica was banned for a reason and one would have thought that one of the consequences would be that the banned user would have been unable to post to request a christmas name as just one aspect of the punishment for their misdemeanour.

You still don't see the problem with your above post???????

After admitting that you are just looking for reasons to moan, I'm finding it hard to take your posts seriously.
