Steven Gerrard is winning his race to be fit for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Newcastle at Anfield.
The Liverpool skipper is back training with his teammates after recovering from a groin injury and is expected to return in time to face Alan Shearer's relegation-threatened side.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.tv today, manager Rafael Benitez said: "Steven is doing well and is training with the rest of the team.

"I think he will be fit and available for Sunday.

"It is good news for the team and for him because he can be a key player for us over the remaining games.

"Without Steven the squad has been playing well and scoring goals, so that is positive."

While this morning's newspapers link a number of players with moves away from Anfield in the summer, Benitez is keen to stress that for the time being at least his only focus is on keeping his side's title dreams alive.

"I was reading the press and they are talking about different players," he said.

"I can guarantee today that we are not thinking about selling anyone. All we are thinking about is to do our job and to try and win the Premier League title, if possible.

"After that you never know what can happen in the market. Clearly, at this moment, we are just preparing for winning games."

Nobody has faith in Arsenal all odds stacked against them as usual, hope they can pull it loff like they did earlier in the premiership prove all doubters wrong.

Good to see Almunia back for such a big game.

Adebayor
Nasri
Fabregas and
Walcott

One of them has to get a goal!

30stone 29-04-2009 07:22 PM

19 year old gibbs faster than ronaldo keeps beating him to the ball.

And just but Ronaldo on his ass

He makes mistakes but that is just quality to watch.

30stone 29-04-2009 07:25 PM

Ronaldo falling over from a good tackle, then complining about not getting free kick.

andyman 29-04-2009 08:44 PM

Oh dear, Arsenal fail to get a away goal, could cost them in the 2nd leg.

30stone 29-04-2009 08:46 PM

****.

Least Clichy is back second leg well maybe.

and Van Persie.

We can still do it only need 1 and we can go on penalties.

andyman 29-04-2009 09:13 PM

^If Man Utd get a goal then you need to get 3..

Good luck.

30stone 29-04-2009 09:22 PM

It wont happen.
We score first then its game on!

Also Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a Target for Arsenal and Man City.
He wants to leave, and may go to one of these or possibly a spanish club.

Wenger apparently is going to make loads of signings this season to strength the team and add depth.

Is good to see, Arsenal need some money though.

andyman 29-04-2009 09:39 PM

You could be leading 2 - 0 during the game, but if Man Utd get a late goal then you need to get another!
Arsenal need to get 3 goals! Man Utd will attack due to the away goal rule, plus Arsenal don't seem to be as sharp and quick on the counter like 5 years ago.

Yep aint over yet but Arsenal need goals, ok they got 4 against Liverpool but that was down to both teams playing it open, i doubt Man Utd will be that open but they will try and gain few away goals..

But then i can see Arsenal wanting that goal bad late in the 2nd half, but then get caught out on the counter, away goal for United!

Or maybe Arsenal get a goal in the first half, 1-1, late 2nd half Arsenal going for that win, that late goal.. But get caught out by the counter..

Arsenal failing to score tonight has not made it easy for them.

Rob 29-04-2009 09:41 PM

Spurs v West Brom at the weekend, we need a win after the man u disaster.
