Oh also watched Aftersun a few days ago, I was a bit skeptical at the start, seemed a bit slow and just watching some peoples boring sun holiday but it was a really lovely film, Paul Mescal was great in it and so was the little girl

Does Hollywood even know what manic is nowadays?

Knock on the cabin.
I enjoyed that. Not what I expected, but a good watch.

That's next on my list

Watched The Whale last night, it felt very much like watching a play, probably because there was only 6 actors in the whole thing and it was shot in just one location. That kind of made it feel more intense I think, the acting was fantastic, especially from Brendan Fraiser, Sadie Sink & Hong Chau. Really good film.

Great movie, I had tears by the end :bawling:
Acting was amazing, especially Brendan. I really want him to get that Oscar. Him or Colin Farrell.

I honestly don't know how they pick the winner, I've seen the films now for 4 of the 5 nominees and they were all fantastic in their own way, I must try to watch Living as well to see Bill Nighy's performance, he's always great too though.

yeah, i'm not going to watch the elvis movie. I'm old enough to remember quite a bit of what he was like when he was living, and i just dont have the time to watch a new interpretation of reality

Is that the girl from The Last of Us? Ellies friend?

I watched Living last night, last of the movies that have an Actor nominated for best Actor(Bill Nighy) It was a really good film with a really nice message, I enjoyed it. 8/10

I have to say as much as I'd like one of the 2 Irish Actors to win I think Austin Butler probably deserves it most, I'd rank them :

Austin Butler
Paul Mescal
Brendan Fraiser
Colin Farrell
Bill Nighy

yes, it is, she is a great actress. I don't give many films great reviews, but missing had me totally gripped from beginning to end

I'll be interested what you think of that one

Vanessa 09-03-2023 07:35 PM

Tar.
I really enjoyed it. Slow to start, but then I really got into it.
So much so I didn't notice how long it was.
Cate Blanchet was incredible and totally carried the whole thing.
8/10 for the movie.
10/10 for Cate

8/10 for the movie.

10/10 for Cate

I thought Cate was excellent as well, my criticism of the film itself though was
Spoiler:

that it was a little vague with details and what actually happened with the girl who killed herself and her assistant. I thought it was based on a true story so that was why but it actually wasn't so I don't like how they left it that way
