No I didn't watch E4 due to Emmerdale:joker:.

ES is reading the Digital Spy forums and is aware on Twitter etc of criticism relating to the teens being overused, more screentime for the older characters etc and she has replied to me a few times which has been nice, so I hope she takes all these points on board.

I also read in an interview in the Radio Times that she might be planning to axe the calendars, which is actually a good idea because of the reputation the show gets, although that is through fault of their own sometimes casting actors mainly on looks and not acting ability:(.

Visage 13-02-2012 11:18 PM

I hope so. She should take note of what is there on the net.

George to face new problems:

I wouldn't mind the focus if any of the teens were in the smallest bit as good as the ones that came before them (not including Newt, Anita etc).

Maybe I'm just getting old, I'm growing out of it.

Hollyoaks star Rob Norbury has revealed that his character Riley Costello does not rule out a reunion with ex-fiancée Mercedes McQueen when he returns to the village.

Riley has been away in Leeds since New Year's Eve, when he left Chester for a fresh start with his baby son Bobby and brother Seth.

However, Riley makes a comeback later this month after Mercy's sister Jacqui (Claire Cooper) gets in touch with him, revealing how much his ex has been struggling in his absence.

Mercy (Jennifer Metcalfe) is delighted by Riley's return and later begs him to take her back, wanting him to forgive her affair with his dad Carl.

Norbury told All About Soap of Riley's reaction: "It's tough - this is someone he gave up his life for and wanted to marry. He's fathered a child with her, but things have changed. He's definitely got a lot of thinking to do.

"It's a big ask - he could maybe forgive, but he'll never forget. He's doing okay on his own, he's come back stronger, but he isn't totally against getting back with Mercedes. He just wonders if he's actually considering it for the right reasons."

Discussing how Riley has changed, the actor said: "Taking care of a baby on his own isn't easy, but it's been rewarding. It's made him grow up a bit and helped take his mind off things. It's probably a blessing in disguise."

I like the idea of them bringing her in to develop the Kane family, but once again it is another number to a very huge cast.

I wonder if she will be a love interest of Esther? Esther has not had a storyline of her own for a while now, it's a shame because I think she is the best teen too.

Visage 14-02-2012 06:18 PM

Esther is one character I have never had any thoughts on. I don't know if that's because I find her boring, of if it's down to bad writing.

If they are going to keep Ester and actually invest in some quality writing I'd love to see it work.

Tonights E4

Spoiler:

Was a great ep tonight overall. Loved Frankie standing up to the evil mother and Nancy and Darren were great as always. But why oh why did they have to cut to the teens at that emotional moment? It was such a pointless scene and then Jono turns up at the vows as well. It's like a slap in the face.

Agree with everything you said, especially the bit in bold.

bbfan1991 15-02-2012 11:17 PM

^ You two have bascially said what I think, great episode and I am glad Nancy changed her mind about leaving and decided to get married to Darren:).

You know what I actually enjoyed the teen scenes for once too:eek:. However, this does not mean I am changing my already stated opinion on them!

Ashley Taylor Dawson (Darren Osborne) interview.

One of the most underrated actors in Hollyoaks:).

He makes a good point about the storyline being allowed to flow and it not being rushed with lots of different storylines etc being featured.

Jords 15-02-2012 11:40 PM

Darren/Nancy storyline was nice.

Fed up of Jono and Ruby!!!!!

Marsh. 15-02-2012 11:42 PM

There's just too many characters to invest in for them to reach any kind of quality.

We got to know all of the previous students and teens through their slow introduction and storylines over a certain period. Throwing a huge crowd of strangers into the show within such a short space of time has just zoned me out.

I like Jono and Ruby:blush:, good to see that he is actually better without the brat pack.

HO are making out atm that teens who are not in some sort of clique and are just doing normal things are not cool. Esther is so lovely though and dare I say it, slightly cute at times:D.

What was E4 like?

Will the mods ever do a part 2 of this thread?

bbfan1991 16-02-2012 01:20 PM

Hollyoaks, meanwhile, attracted 1.1m (5.3%) on Channel 4 at 6.30pm and 110k (0.5%) on +1 as Nancy and Darren tied the knot. The aftermath of the pair's nuptials brought 498k (2.3%) to E4's first look at 7pm and 140k (0.9%) to E4+1.

:)

E4 wasn't bad, no teens!

I just asked ukturtle and he said when the thread gets to 10,000 posts or starts to make the forum run slow.

bbfan1991 16-02-2012 01:47 PM

Thanks Kate:).

Mercedes spirals even more out of control...

Spoiler:

She kisses Rhys when he tries to talk some sense into her, Jacqui finds out and of course is not happy and then she tells the rest of the McQueen's, who are also not happy, tell a few home truths and they're just about ready to disown her until Mercedes reveals the truth about her prostitution antics

Phew. ES responded to me on Twitter about them and I said how they dominate airtime too much, need to be more likeable and also that the older characters need to be used more.

She agreed and I hope she takes the viewpoints of fans onboard:).

ION Emmett Scanlan is back filming at Hollyoaks:D, he recently attended the Irish Film and Television Awards in Dublin.

Hopefully she will, she needs to give some long term spoilers as well.
