Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has confirmed that Brian Kidd will not return to the club as his assistant manager after rejecting a new contract.

Kidd joined the Premier League outfit in February on a temporary deal, which ran until the end of last season.

The former England number two played a key role as Pompey avoided relegation.

Hart told BBC Radio Solent: "He did a great job for me after turning down a number of other jobs but he's a family man and Manchester is a long way."

When asked if he has identified a replacement for Kidd, Hart said: "We'll have to wait and see."

Kidd started his managerial career at Preston before moving to Manchester United as youth team coach under Sir Alex Ferguson.

In 1991 he became Ferguson's assistant at Old Trafford, helping the club win four Premier League titles and two FA Cups, before a brief spell in charge of Blackburn Rovers.

Kidd later spent over a year as an assistant to Sven-Goran Eriksson when the Swede was in charge of the England team and also worked under Neil Warnock and Bryan Robson at Sheffield United.

Kidd had surgery for prostate cancer in 2004 but returned to coaching following treatment in 2006.

Captain Craig Bellamy is out of Wales' friendly in Montenegro on Wednesday due to an ongoing knee injury problem.

Wales were initially unaware of why Bellamy was not at Cardiff Airport for Monday morning's flight to Podgorica.

Bellamy's club Manchester City said in a statement: "Craig's situation should have been communicated to the Football Association of Wales over the weekend.

"But a misunderstanding on the process meant this was regrettably not done until today."

The statement added: "Craig Bellamy is continuing his fitness and rehabilitation work following a knee injury.

"He suffered a reaction following Saturday's game against Celtic and is therefore unavailable to represent Wales in this week's friendly against Montenegro."

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has described the latest round of international matches as "ridiculous".

Pulis has long been a critic of the international fixture schedule, and has urged other managers to speak out too.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "Before the season starts, they take the players away for a week. It's ridiculous.

"It's no good Tony Pulis saying it, who's Tony Pulis at Stoke City? The big boys are going to have to start doing something about it."

He added: "I've got no problem with players playing in competitive matches.

"But if they want friendly matches, let them pay their wages and cover their insurance costs, and then let's see how many friendly matches are played then."

In addition there are five World Cup qualifiers taking place on Wednesday meaning Pulis will be deprived of several players in the lead-up to the Potters' first game of the Premier League season, against Burnley at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

Man Utd have 8 injuries like 5 important ones.
Liverpool have 7 about 6 of the important.
Everton have 6 about 5 important.
Arsenal have 3 all important.
Chelsea have 3 2 important.

Though.

Carragher, Riera, Agger, Skrtel
Jo, Fellani
Vermaelen
Zhirkov

Could all be back for their first game. Only one i know for sure is Vermaelen wenger said he will be or should be fit to play.

The others atm are a good possibility that they could be back but still unsure.

Defender Gary Cahill has signed a new three-year contract with Bolton that is set to keep him at the club until 2012.

The 23-year-old joined the Trotters from Aston Villa for £5m in 2008 and was called up by England in June after impressive performances last season.

"Gary is the best young centre-half in the country by an absolute mile," said Bolton manager Gary Megson.

"He's had another great season - it's only a matter of time before he plays for England on a regular basis."

The Sheffield-born player signed for Villa's academy at the age of 15.

Andy Gray commenting on the top 4..

Saying he wouldnt count any team out this year, but Chelsea if their manager settles in well could be a major threat, just depends who he plays aswell.

Man Utd will miss the presence of Ronaldo and tevez but will still be great, not sure about the midfield due to older players.. giggs scholes etc but have such depth that they will always be competing

Liverpool first time he hasn't counted them out this season to win it, but thinks if torres or gerrard pick up injuries, they will struggle a lot with not many good replacements.

Arsenal will play the great football they always do but still unsure about their defending.. their going for ward is one of the bets if not the best in the country they just need to convert chances to goals, losing toure wont be too much of a problem with New signing vermaelen and if he was a fan he would be very optimistic about this season as it could be the best for years..

Liverpool Tracking Japanese International Keisuke Honda

Honda is highly-rated in Holland, winning the MVP award in Eerste Divisie last season, and starting life in the Eredivisie with three goals in two games.

"A number of top clubs are interested in Honda. Some of them are participating in the Champions League this year." Berden told Algemeen Dagblad.

Liverpool scouts have been watching the free-scoring midfielder for some time, and Honda has admitted in the past that a move to the Premier League would interest him.

"Playing in a league as prestigious as the Premiership would be a dream," Honda stated previously.

"I would seriously consider any offers that come my way."

He plays in midfield but can also play at left back, which is where I'm guessing Benitez would play him, so if we get him then Dossena will definitely be leaving. Pretty good goalscoring record too.

Other rumours:

Tottenham re apparently in the hunt for Bayern Munich's likely-leaving striker, Luca Toni. West Ham are also thought to be interested

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out a possible move for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young, despite weekend reports having suggested that an offer was on the table.

Ex-Newcastle United forward Mark Viduka's proposed move to Portsmouth appears to be hanging in the balance as financial problems again come into play at Fratton Park.

Everton are reportedly set to unleash a €17m bid for the Paris St Germain midfielder, Stephane Sessegnon...

Hull City value Michael Turner at a lofty £11m, meaning Liverpool will have to search elsewhere for more modestly priced defensive targets...

Hull are also said to be close to agreeing a deal for Henri Camara...

pretty quiet day.

Chels our avatar is amazing.

And Everton to make a 17m bid?

I very much doubt it unless there is a direct quote from the club.. or moyes.. then its just paper talk..

As they dont have 17m... unless they were to sell lescott.
