Absolutely DEVASTATED BY THE ENDING.

Only on episode 6 but had the ending spoiled.

It feels like a completely different show to the previous seasons, I'm so disappointed.

Saying this I'll still watch it til the end

Tbf, a big part of the show has been about exploring the ****ed up justice and prison system in America.

But I kind of get what you mean. It's one thing to do it with one plot line or a couple of characters, this year they all seem to be being beaten down with no hope of reprieve.

I like how this has all escalated from Poussay's death though. They really have shown the devastating consequences of it.

Saph 27-07-2018 10:35 PM

does it get any better after ep 1?

Marsh. 27-07-2018 10:35 PM

Also the title don't make any sense anymore?

Navy Blue is the New Black incoming?

If by "better" you mean back to the old OITNB, then no.

LaLaLand 27-07-2018 10:59 PM

I like the fact that it's gone grim after the death of Poussey, think I'm in the minority but at least it seems to be a true reflection of the American prison system. As nice and light-hearted as it can be, prison isn't fun. By any stretch.

I'm hooked!

Marsh. 27-07-2018 11:03 PM

Blanca's quest to get pregnant is a ****ing scream!

I mean I get what you're saying, but I don't think one single viewer first decided to start watching the show to see how ****ed up prisons are in America or to feel anger watching guards abusing their power  Like I said before, it's a completely different show, if they wanted to explore those topics and issues they should've made a darker spin-off series or something.

But the show's explored it from the beginning. :suspect:

None of it is new.

I don't think a prison drama is what people would automatically put on if they're looking for lighthearted comedy either.

This should have always been a 3-4 season show with a clear end and overall arc in mind. I think the last season in particular showed that the writers are just winging it until it gets cancelled.

Marsh. 27-07-2018 11:34 PM

Season 5 is one of my favourites. :hmph:

A show like this doesn't need an arc or end point though. It can literally carry on with renewing its cast. As the show has always been driven on the characters rather than any plot.

madison is lowkey iconic

Marsh. 28-07-2018 02:07 PM

She bugs me.

I love Carol though.

I'm on episode 8 and I feel they have not told us enough in what happened between the time

Well it's certainly the reason I and others I know started watching, I heard about how funny the show was and interesting moments it had.

If we want serious prison dramas we'd watch Wentworth or something similar.

Oh well that's something different.

It was always advertised as a drama primarily.

I don't understand.

We saw them board the buses at the end of season 5 and then we saw this group arrive at Litchfield Max in season 6?

But it feels like there is part if the story missing

Nicky91 28-07-2018 02:29 PM

Prison Break has more drama though, OITNB has a bit more comedic moments

comparison between 2 prison based shows

Denver 28-07-2018 02:30 PM

If have liked to know more about the others who didn't make it but we had half of them not mention and the other half mentioned for 10 secs

But there isn't. We even had flashbacks to conversations they had on the bus.

Apart from the inmates who went to different prisons, there's no more blanks to fill really.

I said primarily. It always has been.

And the the comedy/sassy one liners the show is known for has continued this season.

To say the depiction of how harrowing prison can be is new to the show is not true tbh.
