That's how controversial I can be Ammi, highlighting the controversies before they affect you.

You're welcome.

Ghosts don't exist and anyone who believes in them needs to re-evaluate their lives.

The world wasn't created in seven days and evolution is the nearest explanation we have to how we got here today.

People in relationships should not lie about anything and should be completely truthful and honest with each other no matter what the circumstances are.

There is never an excuse to hit or physically/mverbally harm a child in any way.

Didn't we have a controversial opinions thread http://www.upload.ee/image/2754793/T...e_s-Houses.gif

I wish organised religion would fizzle out.

I am proud to be British.

Those two are the only things I can think of.

Ammi 02-12-2013 07:41 PM

..is it just like the 'controversial opinion' thread then..?..

Z 02-12-2013 07:43 PM

Not all human life is equal and I think it's bull**** to say that it is. I think if you are a horrible person throughout your life then you are not as deserving of the right to live as anyone else and that's why I think the death penalty should be allowed.

Kyle 02-12-2013 07:46 PM

Whilst colonialism is wrong I think we get an especially hard ride out of it when most of the European powers of the Colonial Era were at it.

Ammi 02-12-2013 07:47 PM

..I think it's a conspiracy and Christmas day is March 10....

yeah i agree with this.

the main reason i believe in the death penalty is because if someone in my family was murdered, i'd want to see them dead too. and I think that any family who has to go through that has the right to have that belief.

I honestly don't think racism/homophobia/sexism/etc are as rife as some people would like us to believe. I think quite a lot of people use it as an excuse to be a twat and blame it on something else, if that makes sense? It sounds better to say 'oh I got a black eye for being gay' than it does to say 'oh I got this for being a wanker'

Eg. Gavin has a conviction for a homophobic attack. Whereas it was just a fight, and the person he hit (who hit Gavin's mother first, and thus earned himself the stitches!) happened to be gay. Yet played the homophobe card and the police went along with it.

I have yet to see a real issue of homophobia/racism. Thats not to say it doesn't happen..of course it does. But I don't think its as common as some would have you believe. I really don't.

When you have general grievances and concerns about the rate of immigration in your town or city and your immediately hounded down as a racist/little Englander/daily mail reader.

smeagol 02-12-2013 07:54 PM

oh Now this looks like a thread for me so everybody just follow me
cuz we need a little controversy,
cuz it feels so empty without me

..I guess the way I see that though is that if someone murdered my child, that would be a deep pain for the rest of my life..I don't know how someone gets through that...so if the person who did it was also killed...would it make me feel any less pain at the loss..?..no, it wouldn't lessen it at all but it would mean that another mother of a child had to go through the same pain, so it would make me feel worse because I would have that on my conscience as well...why would I want someone else to feel what I was feeling when they didn't murder anyone..

I agree, I think that while both issues both obviously exist, people are now very quick to brand something homophobic or racist without really thinking about the accusation they are making. To be some kind of people -phobe or -ist you have to hate them and be afraid of them. Somebody using the N word or somebody referring to something as 'gay' is maybe a little bit ignorant but they're just words...

Mel Gibson is an anti-Semite. He hates Jewish people. This is well documented. There's a difference between the kind of unjustifiable hatred in that man's heart and somebody referring to somebody as a "******" or something.

Kyle 02-12-2013 07:58 PM

I believe positive discrimination is still discrimination and thus defeats the object.

Me. I Am Salman 02-12-2013 07:59 PM

I completely disagree with Vicky, homophobia and racism is still a very huge problem in this country imo (obvs not as worse as some other countries but still)

I agree.

I think white people find it harder to understand the severity of racism than us black people do. I swear I hear at least one white person a day use the N word without knowing I can hear them.

One time I confronted someone over it and they replied "oh, I didn't mean to offend you and your people, one of my best friends is Asian". smh.
