I wouldn't say civilian BB is even their flagship programme anymore.

CBB on the otherhand is a huge success.

That's never really went up against anything as big as the World Cup or that though has it?

CBB does far better of course so that is probably more of their flagship program. Although the civilian series does the channel just as well with viewing figures.

How does civilian BB do the Channel just as well with viewing figures?

2 shows below 1 million now plus 1 and officials are a god send to civilian BB even though profit wise repeats and on demand don't bring in any money voting wise.

Obviously product placement and adverts bring in the doh' so no need to worry there but BB as a show should be bringing in the money live.

I would love to see how many people vote these days can anyone find out?

Civillian BB only goes up against the world cup every 4 years so you cant really compare them.

BB12 if anything should have been the highest rated Channel 5 BB because it was a relaunch and CBB launched to over 5 million.

BB13 was up against the Olympics so was screwed, BB14 was the only one not up against anything and climbed heavily in ratings.

True I suppose Channel 5 have kind of been cursed with sporting events but this BB has rated low before the world cup even started. I don't think its down to the world cup entirely why BB15 has lost ratings.

Agree with this totally

Not Bad since it clashed with the start of the world cup holding up 1 Million viewers, It's also good that it has beaten C4 every night and beating BBC2 on some nights

Didn't word my post well... was trying to make a point that Big Brother as a package (celebrity and civilian) works very well for C5. They both work on different time frames so can't be too comparable but all things considered both do well with viewing figures.

It's against Spain V Netherlands Match tonight and it's a split highlights/eviction interview.

The game kicks off at bout 8pm (I think?) someone confirm? so will still have half an hour left when BB starts..

It's got corrie to deal with as well - we're looking at the lowest rated eviction since Caroline's I think. :(

I don't see why we are going so low, it didn't drop under million from the start day of the World Cup and corrie ends at 9:30 so it has some space before the cup match.

The officials will be key this series tbh

Looking back at ratings and now I realise how poorly BB12 did. It was on straight after the relaunch of CBB8, AND it was an autumn series, the weather was bad, there was no Wimbledon, Olympics, Euro/World Cup.

BB13 did well to stay consistent with it as it faced Olympics and the Euros. BB14 only really faced Wimbeldon, but Murray did win, so it probably did hit it a little bit, hence why ratings increased after it ended.

Football ends 15mins before BB ends.....they will probably hold the announcement until then.

They will do the result at 9:50pm surely, so yeah.

Got to say, what a match. I just switched over during the break. It's going to be a high rated game for sure!

But you haven't watched the older other classic series beforehand so you're really not in a place to judge them.

No offence intended honestly just making a point.

Confused? I dont know what I am meant to take offence to, I mean plenty of more recent twists I could name are worse than the crypt not including older series that I havent seen's twists.

uniquedude 14-06-2014 01:28 AM

I dont think it will cancelled because only a handful on shows on channel 5 consistently get 1 million plus viewers, most weeks not even one of their shows even hit 2 million. And I think you have to take competitors into consideration: towie and made in chelsea are the nearest competitors and they get around 1 million viewers per episode it just the type of show.

More and more people watch on demand and channel 5 promote the demand 5 service quite a lot as does other channels with their respective demand services so surely demand has some profitability or so many channels wouldnt have created these services. Lets be honest Big Brother is a show most people watch after everything else, its not a show you miss other shows to view so the catch up figures are likely to be high.

Can't wait to see what the first eviction pulled in, I'm thinking 1.20m

Coverage of Spain-Netherlands was yesterday's most watched, averaging 8.22m/38.7% from 7.30pm and peaking with 11.4m.

ITV Ratings: Mexico v Cameroon on @ITV peaked with 5.8m & Chile v Australia peaked with 4.2m

EastEnders Crashed last night

Yesterday's soaps were badly affected by the World Cup, in particular EastEnders which dropped to just 3.97m/23.1% in an unfamiliar 7pm slot
