Nate & Jen (but especially Jen) becoming gradually more broken with every first place they miss out on

Headie 08-07-2019 10:21 PM

The preview for next episode showing the blondes reversing back into oncoming traffic, seconds away from being slaughtered by an oversized bus  All because they didn't know how to drive stick if I remember correctly <333

Headie 09-07-2019 09:48 PM

Ron & Christina will forever be one of my all time faves  SO close to winning, she was literally one answer away from getting the memory task right and winning the 1 mil </3

Loved this season though, was even better than I initially remembered! Thanks MB for inspiring me to rewatch it lmao

Headie 09-07-2019 10:11 PM

Shall rewatch 14, 15, 16 and 17 (more so 14 and 17 as I remember those being pretty good) in the near future so all the teams from 18 will be fresh in my mind  18 is honestly my fave season ever <333

No worries! I'd like to thank TAR31 for being semi-decent enough to convince me to continue my journey through the older seasons, rather than just call it quits at All-Stars

Which seasons have you seen now? And which do you intend to watch?

I've seen 1 through 7, 9 through 12 and 29 through 31 (plus the first episode of TAR25 which I watched years ago, although I decided for some reason that I didn't understand the format so I gave up )

I'll probably fill in the missing gap and watch 8 next, before moving indeterminately through the other seasons (minus maybe 16 and 24, which I've heard are Not Good?)

Macie Lightfoot 10-07-2019 03:04 AM

Would particularly recommend 13 (kiiiiiinda a hidden gem that nobody talks about but will at the very least provide you with sports bra-gate), 17-20 (although 18 is returnees), and 25-27 for what it's worth xx

Linda Weaver spending the drive to the Pit Stop thanking God for keeping her alive after being run over by her children in an Amish buggy  This season is going to be a ride, I can tell

A LODDA THIS IS UNNECESSARY. REALLY TONY, I'VE HAD A LIFETIME AH THIS AND I'M FED UP WITH IT

Two people threatening to puke (and one actually going through with it) despite the extent of the leg being "drive from New York to Pennsylvania"

One of my favourite things about TAR8 so far is that, as if to try and make up for the U.S. having a lack of culturally pertinent and/or interesting points for the teams to visit, a lot of the clues are like "travel to a house shaped like a shoe" and "find the world's largest office chair"

MB. 11-07-2019 10:26 PM

Marion giving her son a paper cut by hitting him too hard with the clue

This is all I hear when the Godlewskis talk

TAR8:

Weaver Family (I forget which of them said it, but I think the one line that best sums up the Weavers is "it's against our beliefs for the other teams to be rude to us"   Of their many stellar legs (special mention to Alabama and Costa Rica), the Weaver Family Go to Utah has to be one of the greatest single-leg performances of all time. Any time it would show them in their trailer complaining about how the other teams hate them, and the show would briefly turn into BBUK  Using the Yield as an opportunity to eat McDonald's  Feeling sorry for the entire population of Utah for living in such an ugly state  I'd like to imagine that their origin story is that they accidentally sent their Wife Swap application to TAR and... well, the rest is history )
Paolo Family (much as the Weavers detested every moment of their time in Utah, Marion Paolo's hatred for Phoenix, Arizona will live on through the ages  p.s. more reality TV intrafamily feuds need to be resolved by tying the feuding family members together and throwing them into the Panama Canal)
Godlewski Family (not to discredit any of the other sisters, but come on, Christine is obviously the superior Godlewski here)
Linz Family (much more lulzy and fun than they had any right to be, tbh! The "stade"/"stahd" debacle in Montreal was a particular highlight, if minor, and I appreciated their general presence as late game Weaver adversaries )
Gaghan Family (such nerds )
Black Family
Schroeder Family (Stassi Schroeder was in this family. That concludes my thoughts on the Schroeder Family)
Bransen Family (who)
Aiello Family
Rogers Family

All in all, TAR8 was much better than I was expecting (and much better than its reputation gives it credit for)! I'd struggle to rank it in relation to the other classic era seasons, because all of the reasons I found it dramatic, entertaining and enjoyable had very little to do with the show as, well, a race around the world. Which makes it an unusual but welcome outlier in the annals of TAR

Macie Lightfoot 20-07-2019 05:25 PM

yaaaasssss someone else jumping on the TAR8 train :love::love: it's obviously gimmicky as hell but it gave us the Weavers and a few other gems like you mentioned so that alone makes it worth the price of admission!

Valmafra 22-07-2019 09:26 AM

I daresay that FE's in the upper-middle tier, i.e. a B+ season.

Yea, the S13 greeters > that season's boot-order besides the second-placers.

Case in point!

You wouldn't believe how difficult it was to get screenshots of either of them in a stationary position, mainly thanks to Kelly treating the Roadblock like an actual war zone

Valmafra 04-08-2019 11:51 PM

Whoa, then congrats on making it seem easy!

Paige22 10-08-2019 04:02 PM

I want to watch every series of TAR US and TAR CAN but I don’t know if I should start with TARUS1 or TARCAN1 like what should I do? Any recommendations?

Macie Lightfoot 10-08-2019 04:06 PM

US1 is much much better but if you're one of those people who hates watching anything before 2004 bc it feels dated then maybe start with CAN1
