Republican frontrunner Donald Trump has sparked outcry by saying he believed the US should ban abortions and that women who undergo the procedure should face “some form of punishment.”
Wow...

'In comments that suggested he would somehow seek to overturn the right to abortion, cemented by the now famous 1973 Roe v Wade Supreme Court ruling, the tycoon suggested women who underwent the procedure would be penalised.'

This man really is an embarrassment now,it does seem voters that support him have a death wish for the republicans as to this election to be rewarding him for being totally ridiculous.

Has he finally made a mistake? He cant run on that stance or he will definitely lose and to say he's is effectively gonna reverse a landmark supreme court judgement gives an idea how little he knows about the constitution.

After the interview, the Trump campaign released a statement from the candidate saying: “This issue is unclear and should be put back into the states for determination. Like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions, which I have outlined numerous times.”
He's now backing down.

Trump has damaged the image of the US more than people realize.
I agree with Spike Lee... Trump is a product of reality TV and Reality TV is a curse upon the world. The worst traits in people brought out and used as entertainment.

..he's definitely looking as though he'd like to quickly have that wall built around himself now to deflect the questioning that he's getting about this.....what an 'oooops' at this late stage in the game and great to see him so much on the defensive, trying to back-track...

49% of americans want abortion stopped, so if he makes noises in that direction, without actually doing anything, he can pick up voters.

We talk about Islamic countries, but the USA is no better in many respects

A really valid point which had not ocurred to me (and I'm sure many others on here) - perhaps Trump REALLY is a lot more intelligent than some are giving him credit for.

Who are these 49%, where is this figure from? 27.4% of statistics are made up you know.

What stats are these? Did the 49% say it should be abolished in all circumstances?

This privileged piece of **** just said that women who get abortions should be 'punished'. I'm not a woman, but I assume that the trauma of terminating an unwanted pregnancy is horrifying beyond words. For a privileged white man to say that women who are already suffering need to be 'punished' is ****ing evil and psychotic.
