apparently you can contact your supplier and they are duty bound to offer you a payment plan, not sure if they will but it is worth a try.

Currently the only help will be 67.00 off your electric bill from Oct to Mar...:umm2:

i think that they either help customers with payments or more and more people will default on their payments. It's basically one or the other. They won't cut people off because the optics for the energy company would be atrocious

Yes, that doesn't sound right for one person.
I'm alone and never spend that much in a month.

bots 27-08-2022 03:39 PM

my electric doesn't change much between winter and summer. All my lights are led's so the longer nights make zero difference

She lives alone. But I agree, that's a whopping bill. I think she may be on direct debit or something nasty. I'll ask.

When some companies put up the DD in April the rise was 54% but some DDs went up by 100%, she needs to look back at what she was paying in March and calculate what they increased the DD by, does she have alot of credit building up because she can ask for it back if she has, she will have to look at her bills and see what she is actually using so she can judge if she is over paying

That DD she is on now will rise to 180.00 in Oct more or less

She will get 67.00 off from Oct to March as every household will get 400.00 split over 6 months off the electric bill

Paying by DD she gets a cheaper rate than paying a quarterly bill but it ionly works out a good deal if the DD is appropriately set at the right price

You're right. Almost cleared out her bank account all but £5. Fancy having to borrow £10 to eat. Damn disgrace. :fist:

Thanks. :)

There's just been a report on GB News about fish and chips shops suffering through rises prices and huge energy costs. :(

On a much lighter note, they showed an old couple eating fish and chips outside a seaside shop, and the old guy (aged about 70) said, 'fish and chips were much better in newspaper.'

I hear this all the time, especially on Facebook. Let's get it straight. Fish and chips were NEVER wrapped directly onto dirty, ink-ridden newspaper. I should know because one of my uncles had a fish and chips shop in the 1970s and he always told us the fish and chips were FIRST wrapped in grease-proof paper and then the old newspapers were used to keep the fish and chips hot. At no point were fish and chips in direct contact with newspaper.

What people like the old guy are saying is that his old fish and chips suppers 'tasted better' when they were in direct contact with dirty newspaper and ink. :p

It's a myth that seemed imprinted onto the brains of people over 60. :p

Insane, this should be front page news

bots 30-08-2022 10:14 AM

i'm in no doubt that there will be riots if there is not a fundamental change in government policy on this. This is probably the worst crisis the country has ever faced. It's much, much worse than covid

Yes, this is why the New Leader,
must change the Ownership.
Even if it is
against their politics

The Company can be owned by the French
but the UK Division "could" be under Temp UK Government
ownership
