Ahhh OK, Alive was a very good film, crazy that it all happened as well

Is this a remake/retelling of "Alive" (1993)? It looks very similar but, of course, Alive was based on a true story so it's not necessarily a remake of the film itself just another film based on those real events. Potentially a more authentic take as it's in Spanish whereas "Alive" is English - the real people it's based on were from Uruguay.

I did enjoy "Alive" though and the true story it's based on is incredible/somewhat miraculous as well

Spoiler:

In the end two of the group left, on foot, and travelled across the mountains with almost no food and no equipment, and made it to civilisation to get help, saving the other survivors who stayed with the plane. The story would seem far fetched if it was just a film, the two making it even a few miles let alone a huge trek across the Andes is so unlikely, but it really did happen!

I know it’s based on real events .. and a south American based sports team was on board so it’s feasible

Juan Antonio Bayona’s upcoming Netflix movie Society of The Snow, promises to be a more faithful adaptation of the story than the 1993 movie Alive.

I remember it coming out and the "shock" factor was all about the fact that

Spoiler:

They ended up eating some meat from the people who died in the crash to survive

**Small spoiler

I only saw it fairly recently (5 years ago maybe) and had read about the controversy... but by todays standards it's not really shocking at all. They did what they had to to survive .

Oh yeah i agree, i thought the same back when it came out aswell

Spoiler:

I guess its a little bit like donating organs to keep people alive after you're dead, in a way

haha I never heard that tagline but I don't think they went all in and

Spoiler:

Dined out on BBQ'd internal organs or anything  but yeah it's the story where they end up having to eat parts of some of the dead bodies to survive

With Michael Keaton? I re-watched that very recently and thought it was...serviceable lol. Not a great movie by any means, but a decent enough way to kill an hour and a half or so.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Undoubtedly the best of the Star Trek movies.

…oh I didn’t realise there was another movie with the same name…I should have said 2022 movie….this was Greta Gerwig and Adam Driver starring….I will look the Michael Keaton one up though, I don’t think I’ve seen it so might catch it…

My definition of a good film is one i want to watch multiple times and i don't remember doing that for any film released in the last 10+ years

Ammi 14-01-2024 08:07 AM

…Morbius….…I think that so much was in place to make it a good origin story but it just didn’t gel for me and I’m not sure why…I really didn’t bond with any of the characters and the whole movie/story just had a ‘hollow’ feel and didn’t engage at all…6/10, I guess…

bots 14-01-2024 10:51 AM

yeah morbius didn't work for me either

Demons - 1985.

A good gilm but the sequel called - have a guess - Demons 2 :D is a little better in my view.

Love Dario Argento.

My favourites of his are Opera, Deep Red, and unsurprisingly, Suspiria.

Suspiria is brilliant!

Ammi 15-01-2024 08:01 AM

…Homefront….….it was ok, lots of plot holes as they say …but Jason Statham just gets it done anyway and leaves a trail of kicked ass…6/10, it ticked along….

…also ….

…Foe……I think this movie got a really bad critic and it wasn’t riveting as such but it was still quite absorbing…very bleak and isolated and quite depressing…but still I found it watchable……I won’t rate it, though…but I’m glad that I stuck with it and watched it through to the end…

I haven't seen that in ages. Needs a rewatch.
My favorite of his movies are Suspiria and Deep Red. But they're all good.
