So many Con MPs expressed really strong concerns too.

However having seen how this totally inept PM treated many dedicated long serving Con MPs last year.

So they likely dare not vote against his bills.
Even if they totally disagree with it.
So enough didn't vote it down.

Wes Streeting from Labour put it really well.
When he mentioned his disputes with difficulties in Labour then challenged Con MPs who knew this bill was and is wrong for them, to do the right thing.

Sadly enough Con MPs didn't.
Still another battle maybe to come yet on this one.

It gives them the right to have a hard border to the republic. The reason being that they dont want a border between NI and the mainland in the event of a no deal brexit - which makes perfect sense to me. I personally think it's the sovereign countries right to be able to enforce it's borders.

Some may say it affects peace .... but the simple fact is those that want peace wont get upset about a border if they genuinely want peace

As a British citizen.
I expect any Prime Minister and government to be law abiding and keep their word on signed agreements, treaties and anything set in International law.

This bill gives the possible authority, only because of a now failing and flawed electoral system to this PM and government.
To break the UK's word on said signed agreement.

Even the Northern Ireland secretary himself in the government, has said it will mean breaking international law.
Even the former attorney general too.

As a British citizen, that's not how I want to see my Country to be seen to be, or even be as to not being trusted on the integrity of its word.

I'll never agree with anyone who believes that to be in any way right, appropriate or acceptable to do so, in any circumstances.

Johnson really is an inept PM, however becoming increasingly more dangerous in his obsession with power.
That's my personal and REALLY dismayed view of this unnecessary bill.
Which I see NO reason for doing, the way it is being done.

So now it's done, Arista, what do you have to say now?

Can you explain what this means? He campaigned on an oven ready deal, he won a massive majority on his oven ready deal, parliament passed his oven ready deal. This was the WA boris and tories wanted, so what could go wrong? Brexit was the easiest deal to make in history, according to leave.

That's all just further evidence of his endless now list of lies and deceit politically.
Even to voters.

Yet voters fall for it and support him.

Regardless of damage to standing or reputation of a decent, internationally agreed law abiding, trustworthy and leading World nation, which the UK, is supposed to be.

Well after this, it WAS, it won't be seen as that likely anymore, rightly so it won't be too.

Not really the point. We're alienating everyone away from even wanting to do deals with us.

[Brexit: Boris Johnson partially climbs down
on Internal Market Bill in face of Tory rebellion

Downing Street offered a compromise to try
and win over the dozens of Conservatives
who either abstained or voted against
the draft legislation that would override
the withdrawal agreement - breaking international law.

A statement was released "following talks" between
Number 10 and disgruntled backbenchers,
agreeing that the amendment
will provide a "clearer, more explicit democratic
mandate for the use of these powers".
And ministers have agreed to another amendment
that "sets clear limits on the scope and
timeliness of judicial review" of the bill.
The prime minister has promised to give MPs
another vote before any of the powers are used,
as long as they pass the Internal Market Bill
when it is due to complete its
Commons journey early next week.]

After all the chaos of last year.

Plus the deceit clearly from Johnson and his cabinet.
Anyone unhappy with this bill as it stands.
Simply need to alter it or vote against it.
If they feel so strongly.

To trust Johnson now, since he was offering not a single thing up to the bill being voted on.
I'd say would be folly.

How though really, at this time, after the mess last year of which all parties were to blame for.
Plus this crisis of this pandemic.
What competent or even decent PM would have got to this point of irritating strong numbers of his own backbenchers, while in government, to even think of bringing in this bill.

It's like they test to see how more easily it is to deceive further and railroad bad policy through even parliament.

....Boris is terrifying...surely the people who voted for him and voted Brexit can still see that and be hugely concerned by him...

Sticks 18-09-2020 01:59 PM

They voted for him because he was not Jeremy Corbyn.

People would have voted for Adolf Hitler or Jack the Ripper because they were not Jeremy Corbyn...
