Yeah it's about 10 years since I saw Demons 1. I much prefer old films. They're so much better made, acted and scripted than the new ones. In my view. :)

…Sunshine Cleaning……I loved it…it was another hidden gem movie and such an original storyline, which really is quite rare…apparently it’s from the makers of Little Miss Sunshine which I also loved…the cast was superb…Emily Blunt and Amy Adams are both fabulous actresses……8/10….

Is that on netlflix or prime?

The Oblong Box. 1969 horror. Good film. Starring Christopher Lee, Vincent Price.

Not many people talk about this old movie.

…I’m pretty sure it was on Amazon Prime if you’re able to stream that…I can’t recall which section…it might have been comedy/drama ….if you check the search eyeglass, though…similar to Boy Swallows Universe, it’s based on another dysfunctional type family who function really engagingly…

…it’s a little while since I watched it but I recall it to be a very good mystery/thriller watch and some excellent female characters especially…

Suspira is a GREAT film. I really like Inferno of Dario's too, among others. I thought the Suspiria remake was pretty bland, didn't much enjoy it. Have you seen it?

Last film i watched was Personal Services 1987. Love the gritty old 80's working class London setting. Some brilliant, hilarious characters. Quite an underrated film. I give it a 7.5/10

Yes I love Dario Argento. All his movies are brilliant, even the most recent ones.
He has so much flair and style.

…Another Happy Day……I liked it, it was one of those movies that didn’t really go anywhere because it was about the people, about the dysfunctional dynamics within a family…so then it becomes about the characters themselves, rather than a storyline and about the cast who play them and lots of funny moments also…and it was an excellent cast…7/10…

Just watched No Hard Feelings (2023)

Really good movie with a few really funny moments

…The Iceman……it was based on a true story of a hitman/killer whose family had no idea of his dual life, it was an intriguing watch and a strong cast…7/10…

There are so many great fact based movies …

I recall watching the original Fargo movie which opened with the text …

Based on true events .

Many years later it surfaced that it maybe wasn’t a true story just a gimmick

…The Siege at Jadotville……this was another fact based story, Zizu….another movie I’d recommend and also billed as an untold story…it wasn’t one that I was aware of either and a very compelling watch …I won’t say anything to give any of the story but a very worthy watch …8/10….

…The Marsh King’s Daughter……quite edge of your seat stuff and kept that momentum throughout, I really enjoyed this thriller also and a very original storyline…another recommended watch…7/10….

X (2020)

I really enjoyed this, I love old 70's horror films that have those B-movie type vibes so this was right up my street.

Basically - it's 1979 and a group of amateur p0rn stars go on a road trip to the back end of Texas, somewhere on the Bible Belt in the middle of nowhere, to shoot a farm themed movie and stay on location at a property owned by a very sinister elderly couple. Soon it becomes apparent that things aren't going to end well for group.

A real throwback to, as I mentioned, those old slasher movies (in particular The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). VERY gory and VERY explicit but a lot of fun if horror is your thing.

It's the first of a trilogy, the second being "Pearl" (a prequel to X, an origin story of the elderly villain in X when she was young in the 1920's) which came out last year I believe and lastly "MaXXXine" is coming out later this year which follows Maxine the main character/"final girl" from X a few years later in the mid 1980's in Los Angeles.

Mia Goth plays both Maxine and Pearl, complete with full realistic prosthetic makeup to make her up into the elderly murderess. :omgno:

8/10.

(This is on Channel 4 OD for anyone interested).

…The Lost City…..it was kind of a spoof of Romancing the Stone, which I guess was also a spoof of Indiana Jones type movies so a spoof of a spoof which was probably also a spoof…I think that it had a reasonable review and rating but it just didn’t connect for me…everything was perfectly placed for popcorn and fun but it didn’t happen…great cast, though… and they did hold it together so it wasn’t awful either …it was like this amazingly wrapped gift that opened up into an empty box….great song for the last credits, though and a cast that makes it all look effortless but…meh…

…5/10…

there is just so much to love from this

10/10

GoldHeart 28-01-2024 06:44 PM

I'm glad someone has put the third Guardians of Galaxy as I recently watched that ,it was a bit chaotic but I enjoyed seeing Rocket's backstory . It seems they're teasing for another sequel.

Anyway 7 / 10 mainly for Rocket's story,which gave us more in-depth and was a bit emotional.

But the last 2 movies I watched were Barbie & M3gan

Barbie has been hyped up ALOT ,overall it was a fun silly movie not to be taken too seriously ,but with deep
moments and a message thrown in there .

Spoiler:

The ending was odd ,I didn't expect Barbie to leave ken & Barbie land to become human in the real world. I understand Barbie wanting to be independent and her encouraging Ken to do the same, and I know a romance didn't need to happen between them both.

Also I thought she was getting a nice job interview at the end to start a career , she was getting told " good luck", then it turns out it's the doctor's/ gyno lmao :conf:,I read that apparently that was put in the movie to normalise awkward health checks... interesting

But anyway overall Barbie movie was ok and it had some comedic moments ,and sweet moments especially with the creator Ruth . So 6/7 out of 10 .

M3gan was a good movie, I actually ended up finding alot of it funny...it felt more like a dark comedy, but there was actually sad moments aswell... especially with the little girl and the tragedy she's gone through, and how she clings to M3gan for comfort. They did a great job at making M3gan look both creepy and calm at the same time. Was fascinating and was like a mixture of Frankenstein & Chucky.

So I give it 7/8

…Ambulance……it’s very much in the vein of Speed and a good enough watch/action thriller …but I would say a little too long for me to keep that tension and momentum going, I found myself wandering off a few times…6.5/10…

Ammi 01-02-2024 06:24 AM

…The One I Love……I thought that it was a really smart movie, something quite different…the plot was very condensed and the cast was very condensed also, so it’s the sign of great storytelling when it still engages and absorbs in the way that this one did, I really liked it..it’s not a movie that I can say much about, though without risking spoilers being given…I’ll give it a 7.5/10…

Ammi 02-02-2024 06:47 AM

…The King (2019)……just a big bloody muddy battle with an excellent bloody muddy cast…7.5/10…
