Morbid curiosity took me to watching "Scoop". It provided a bit of background to how newsnight got the interview, but nothing could compare to the original ..... 5/10

…I started to watch Argylle and probably watched it around two thirds-ish through and then didn’t finish and see it’s ending…because of that and because I rarely don’t complete a film, I’ll give it a 2/10…it just felt flat, everything about it felt flat and held no interest, I thought…it was this beautiful balloon of talent with its cast….but someone popped it and let all of the air out and left nothing…

Ammi 15-04-2024 06:06 AM

…Equaliser 2……Denzel still has it……not too shabby at all, it wasn’t a bad watch for that action type genre, I liked it…6.5/10….

Thief of Bagdad (1940)
10/10

Brilliant film. Very engaging, "still" holds up. Fun cast.

Disney's Aladdin pilfered a fair amount of plot elements and characters from this film, but it doesn't feel like a progenitor to Aladdin.

Watched "Poor Things" recently, it starts off very odd but I thought it was great. Once it hits its stride, Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo are genuinely hilarious together. His reactions are a meme goldmine.

I watched half of it and I had to turn it off because I had to do something else, I haven't gotten back to it yet, i wasn't sure what to make of the bit i had seen, it's worth finishing then? I watched up as far as

Spoiler:

Mark Ruffalo gets her on to the cruise

You literally stopped it not long before the part where it clicked for me and my wife and it became really funny. Spoilers-ish but not really:

Spoiler:

She starts driving Mark Ruffalo to despair with her odd... adventures... and it's great, they play off each other so well and he ends up so frustrated and unhinged :joker:

Ohh ok, that's reassuring then, I was kind of feeling

Spoiler:

A bit ick with the whole idea of her actually being a child mentally and all these men wanting ownership of her

Respect for watching what you choose to watch from any time in history. Not like all the other NPCs that watch what they're told to watch by the bright lights.

She's a Mr. F?

It's an Arrested Development joke, that let's just say would have some people raging today.:joker:

You don't like being told to watch Ratman or Mantisgirl?

Or for the "sophisticated" viewing, you don't want to watch a Film about someone dying of Cancer, and then they find their true love, and don't forget the very original message that we've never heard before "it's not about the beauty on the outside, it's about the beauty within" which doesn't make you want to throw up into a bucket at all.

…Shot Caller……it was quite an unlikely but interesting storyline ….and surprisingly gripping and actually not too shabby at all…the acting was strong and it didn’t lose its grip so 6.5/10….

…Free Guy……it was kind of fun and a little different and Jodie Comer……always a lovely watch…her presence made up a bit for the irritation that is always Ryan Reynolds…but hey ho, it still zipped along nicely…6/10….

Zizu 19-04-2024 06:01 AM

I’m about a 1/4 way through The Commitments … saw it years ago but REALLY enjoying it this time !!!

In the Land of Saints and Sinners…….I liked it, it continues my run of featuring Colm Meaney films and it was a bit like an old style Western in Ireland…the bad gang come to town and Sheriff Liam Neeson has skills etc…it wasn’t a storyline that held many surprises but it was just a good watch for what it was…7/10….

Ammi 28-04-2024 07:42 AM

Rebel Moon Part 2 - The Scargiver….…it was a bit of a slow start…but then I did watch it back to back with Saints and Sinners, so that’s probably the thing as well…I would say, though that it matched the first one and wasn’t too shabby at all…lots of action and good characters and I liked that it gave them all solid back stories…6.5/10….

Sometimes you can be more in the mood for a Film compared to other times.

Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil

very good sequel, good storytelling

Michelle Pfeiffer good acting work as the villain
Spoiler:

framing Maleficent for cursing King John, with the curse from the first film still having been in the spinning wheel
also
Spoiler:

Maleficent turning her into a goat in the end absolutely hilarious :joker:

very enjoyable all in all, the visuals in the Moors and some soundtrack elements kinda reminded me of Avatar for some reason
