Good casting there, apart from Selyse and Shireen, those two are far too attractive for how they're described in the book

Locke. 03-09-2012 02:34 PM

Brienne is pretty fit in real life, they'll just make them much uglier on the show

Niamh. 03-09-2012 02:36 PM

Who's playing Brianne?

Joelle. 03-09-2012 02:39 PM

Gwendoline Christie

In the show:

In real life:

Niamh. 03-09-2012 02:46 PM

yeah, she's not overly attractive I suppose.....not anywhere near as bad as how she's described in the book though

Whoa the makeup department is stronger than I thought with how ugly they've made her look in Game Of Thrones.:joker:

Well if the White Walkers don't kill him, he'll probably be executed as a deserted :bawling:

Locke. 09-09-2012 03:09 PM

If you would like to know what happens with Sam

Spoiler:

He lives. The White Walkers have a battle on top of that hill with the rest of the Nights Watch but will leave Sam to warn people that they are back and still alive (similar to how in episode 1 they let one of the Nights Watch live, and then he was beheaded as a deserter by Ned.)

Shaun 10-09-2012 09:02 PM

this just started on Sky1 if anyone's interested (i think it's the start of S1 as well)

Niamh. 13-09-2012 03:36 PM

Sorted out my D/ling and have all the episodes of season 2 ready to go now. Watched up to ep3 so far. They've changed a far bit alright and squashed down alot. What was the point in changing Ashas name though? I was expecting her to be more attractive than that too, which is strange cos they usually make the less attractive characters in the book more attractive on screen

Niamh. 13-09-2012 03:37 PM

also :

Spoiler:

the whole Renly/Loras/Margery thing is a bit weird, I know it was kind of implied in the book that Loras and Renly might have been more than friends but it's a bit full on actually watching it, with Margery not caring either. Also, Stannis and Mellissndre getting it on, that was never actually said in the book either (not so far anyway)

Think they changed Asha's name so people wouldn't get her confused with Osha. The Stannis/Melisandre thing is hinted at in ADWD

Spoiler:

There's a line in her chapter that says something like "since Stannis had left she had not had much need for her bed

ah that makes sense about Asha.

Is that shadow that she gives birth to supposed to be their child then?

Locke. 13-09-2012 07:06 PM

I guess. It's never really said that Stannis was aware of what she was planning on creating,

Spoiler:

but I'm guessing he really does want a son from her to be his proper heir, as I don't think Shireen (or any female) can inherit the throne, they would have to take it for themselves by taking out any male relative ... assuming Stannis wins the throne for himself in the first place

And we never find out what happens to the shadow after it kills Renly... whether it just disapears or if it's still available to be called on again later in the story (i'm guessing not)

Novo 13-09-2012 07:26 PM

It's going to be called on again

Spoiler:

In the book the shadow was used twice though, once for Renly and once for Edric Storms uncle(I think uncle anyway)

Watched 3 more episodes tonight, they've changed alot. Arya being Tywin Lanisters cup bearer rather than Roose Bolton and Littlefinger popping up everywhere. Also Meera and Jojen haven't appeared yet and Osha and Bran and Rickon have just escaped from Theon. Meera and Jojen were there in the book when they escaped.

They pushed Jojen + Meera back to season 3, not sure why, but they've been cast now anyway.

Spoiler:

Littlefinger popping up everywhere was annoying but I suppose he doesn't have that much to do until the second part of ASOS onwards so they've got to give the actor something to work with. Arya as Tywin's cupbearer probably brings up some of the best moments of the second seasno so no problems with that, I'm guessing they're keeping Roose with Robb to make what happens more shocking.

Wait until you see what they do with Jon's story, they completely ruin Qhorin Halfhand and just make Jon's whole story about Ygritte... Was almost as painful as all of Daenerys chapters in the book :pipe:

Yeah, I suppose having Arya with Tywin and Roose with Rob will make it easier for people to follow what's going on. I particularly liked the bit they added about Arya nearly getting caught by Tywin when the guard caught her with the letter she stole and she gets jaqen h'ghar to kill him just as gets to Tywins door. Jaqen is a cool character actually, I wish he was in it for longer.

Qhorin Halfhand and Ygritte just appeared in episode 6 that I watched last night, already they're starting to change what happened completely. She escaped when he was supposed to kill her instead of Jon letting her go and I presume Halfhand isn't going to make Jon kill him and act as a spy now since Jon seems to be lost
