Amazing film though. Can't wait to see it again:D

Yeah, I think that was fairly spot on to how it happened in the book though, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Me too, I'm definitely going to see it in the cinema before it goes out

Glenn. 24-03-2012 01:22 AM

And the shaky camera in some parts were too much as well. Couldn't really see what was happening in some places.

Niamh. 24-03-2012 01:23 AM

A few people said that, I didn't notice tbh

Niall 24-03-2012 09:37 AM

I'm seeing this again today, and I've persuaded another friend to see it with me next weekend. :3 /obsessed

my friend said that, and it being all shaky during the initial cornucopia fight gave him a headache, but i guess it was shot like that to try and cut down on the amount of violence on screen

-laughed at the little curly-haired fail who tried to hide in it-

Glenn. 24-03-2012 07:28 PM

See it again today and it was just as amazing as last nights viewing. I enjoyed it more today than last night.

Doogle 24-03-2012 07:39 PM

Saw it yesterday, cinema was fairly empty.

Good film, did the book justice. By no means was it the greatest film ever, but it did a good job of making me feel emotion and I really got into it, jumped like hell when
Spoiler:

the dogs appeared
but yeah, I'd give it 8/10.

I just noticed today that Capitol had really Roman Empire kind of feel in the movie. Did anyone else get that?

Definitely. I got that when I saw it.

And I was reading Catching Fire on the journey back and showed my friend
Spoiler:

the bit where the stylists are telling Katniss and Peeta to drink that liquid so they puke and can eat more food
and my friend told me that the Romans used to do that.

pretty much everything in the book is derived from Roman influence - the cornucopia for example was a festival for feasting, there's a whole range of Catos and the word capitol is from there

Hotly anticipated movie The Hunger Games has smashed US box office records on its opening weekend.

It was the biggest ever opening of a non-sequel movie, raking in an estimated $155m (£100m) in three days.

The film has also been credited with the third best weekend start of all time.

The teen favourite was launched worldwide to massive fanfare and in Britain, amid a period of warm and sunny weather, it still had ticket sales of around £5m.

Box office receipts in Australia - with a third of Britain's population - topped £6m.

The result "shatters expectations", according to Hollywood.com analyst Paul Degerabedian.

Great news, I believe it though, tbh I can't remember the last time I've been to a film that was so packed, people who didn't get there early enough couldn't even get seats together.

Oh yeah I knew about that too. It's pretty insane when you think that people actually did that. D:

It was that really, just the style of the Capitol and it's inhabitants. I think it was all the huge walkways and big stone buildings. And the music too, there were loads of Roman sounding horns I think.

it was good, would have been better if there wasn't a guy behind me who cried for 60% of the movie though
