So when people are posting these ratings for Love Island do you ever include +1 as we do with BB because chances are its matching it?

LI has beaten BB twice I think. |
Also people say how BB's figures have drastically dropped Love Island series 1 back in 2005 almost overtook BB6 at one point and 3.8 million people tuned in to watch the final of series 2, peaking at 4.4m, down from series 1 peak figure of 5.9 million.
Its currently averaging 1.27 up on last years 0.57 against BB's 1.65 up on last years 1.44 |

I've produced a ratings comparison table of all C5 series, BB12 through BB17.
On the graph you can see all of the first two week official ratings and compare with other series side by side. Furthermore, green indicates the series equivalent episode is up on the previous. Note however that these are all on different days and can inflict different ratings results (e.g. because particular rival shows were on a weekly basis such as a Wednesday that year) Fridays are marked with (F) Saturdays are marked with (S) http://i.imgur.com/6tkRu5Y.png As far as it stands BB17 (the current run) is smashing every rating equivalent from last year bar launch (based on episode number, rather than day of broadcast) BB17 improved 12/13 episodes compared to BB16 BB17 improved 5/13 episodes compared to BB15 BB17 improved 1/13 episodes compared to BB14 BB17 improved 1/13 episodes compared to BB13 BB17 improved 6/13 episodes compared to BB12 All in all, and despite low broadcast ratings, the online retention for viewers for BB17 is particularly high considering it is holding its own well, unlike any other series before it, showing no significant drop unlike other series. It beat the first week averages of both BB15 and BB16. While its second week beat BB12, BB15 and BB16. In perspective, these ratings don't look all that bad. And tbh, I'd imagine if we can keep viewers locked onto the show, we'd see ratings around 1.6m-1.5m as a series average. On par with BB12, BB13 and BB15. |
EDIT - I missed one (S) Saturday out before anyone calls it.
|
I still don't know how BB13's launch almost got 3m but then ever since, the launch ratings have dropped considerably - like BB14 launched with over half a million less.
|
Don't you mean 12/13 higher than BB16? Every official has been up on last year bar launch. You put 7/13
|
wow I always thought that BB14 was the highest rated C5 launch but even BB15 beat it
|
BB15 launch did better because it came after the most successful civilian series on C5 - BB14 which pulled in some new viewers, hence the 1.9m so they probably tuned in for BB15's launch to see if it was as good (it wasn't hence the big drop in BB15's second launch). And the media attention and success of CBB13 earlier in the year probably made people more aware of BB in the summer too.

I think they really shot themselves in the foot doing a 2 part launch for BB15, the only person who stood out on the first launch night was Pauline and everyone else felt (and looked) exactly the same. The second part actually had much more interesting people who weren't just business men/women in suits but by that point people had already given up. |
I genuinely feel like Power Trips first few weeks killed BB. Even BB13 was doing very well before a dramatic slip. At least the ratings were strong at the beginning of the series, whereas Powertrips ratings imo definitely reflected the poorer choice of housemates that we'd seen.

This is getting ridiculous
Big Brother: 1.01m Love Island: 1.04m BB got 1.1m +1 but this is severely getting on my tits. |
ratings will go way up after Friday, when Georgina is evicted, BB wants her out to improve the ratings, makes a lot of sense :)
