i sent a very heartfelt one to Neem when I was scandalously banned for homophobic racism baiting and all i got back was a picture of a potato in the shape of a penis

I had the last laugh however as I already had been sent that image ages ago from Vicky when she was asking me if my divorce had been finalised and was I back on the market.

No none of us are paid but we do have plenty of experience and skills moderating this forum (and others) and dealing with a massive amount of other things that pop up many that none of you are even aware of.

The rules are there as a guideline but for most things nothing can be set in absolute stone due to the different scenarios and rule breaks on here, the same goes for infractions and bans, mods do at times use thier own discretion but all of us see any infractions and bans that are given out which also adds to my next point about no one moderating the mods, again nothing is done without all of us seeing it, theres a thread automatically generated for every single warning or infraction that is given out and many of those threads have large discussions in them some resulting in infractions and bans being reversed.

Theres also a shortened version of the rules if its a big deal for you to read the ling version.

In all honesty, you say you know how the system works then go on to post things that are simply not true.

I think the mods on here do a great job and get little to no thanks for it, most of the time they get nothing but **** and most complaints tbqh are from people that break a rule but cant handle the consequences of it.

You think I might need to read a shortened version of the rules? A little sarcastic, I feel, although you have little chance of being infracted, whatever you or any other moderator says to me.

Yes, yes, the mods to a great job. You don't get paid and you take all the crap in the world it's the stock answer. But you still do it. And why is that? You all get something out of it and that's good. But you still all interpret the rules differently and I have never, ever had a reply from the mods in query to an infraction. And sometimes those infractions are unwarranted and vindictive. Because mods are just a bunch of people like us who like some people and don't like others. I've seen it in the actual legal system, don't tell me it's not that way on a internet forum because is clearly is. I'm not even really talking about my own experiences here, but what I've seen an heard over the years.

And still no one moderates the moderators.

You just said yourself the rules should be shortened? My reply was to that comment.

Im also pretty sure ive replied to infraction queries from you but I will check this out later from my pc.

At the end of the day Livia, if you dont like the forum or the way its run you dont have to post, but you agreed to the rules when you signed up.

So there's some favouritism there is there? Well why not spare a thought for us mere mortals who can't class mods amongst our fwends :hmph:

That's fair enough but genuinely I do reply to PMs unless like I said the person is being abusive (thankfully that doesn't happen too much)

I was suggesting the rules be shorted so the mods can apply them a little more fairly. I understand them completely.

Yes have a look for those messages Josy, I'd be interested to know how many you find.

That's the trouble. I do like the forum. This place dragged me through some of the worst times of my life and I've met some people who I consider to be friends. And what you're saying is, if you don't like the way we do things, leave. Great way of dealing with people's concerns. Not an effective way though because SO many people have taken your advice to heart.

And still no one moderates the moderators.

No im not saying that, but you do only pop up here these days to have a snipe at us, i dont see why anyone would bother doing that... the fact is the forum rules wont be changed to suit 1 person when most of the time they work well.

Not sure why you feel the need to keep repeating about the mods being moderated when its already been explained how mods are monitered on the forum.

thesheriff443 08-11-2017 09:57 AM

Do members on here actually think voicing their opinions and arguing with members they don't like on here! A big brother forum, will change the world around them!

This site is nothing more than a playground for grown ups.

user104658 08-11-2017 09:58 AM

If the moderator's were moderated, who would moderate the moderator moderators? And if the moderator moderators were moderated by other moderators, who would moderate the moderator moderator moderators? And...

I've never read how the mods are moderated.

And no, I don't pop in to snipe at you. I pop in because I've been here a while, and despite the fact that a lot of my friends have given up and sodded off, stupidly, I still like this forum and the majority of people in it, despite all it's many flaws. And to be honest, Josy, there isn't much of a chance to speak about this stuff. And even when there is I'm told (and I'm paraphrasing) if you don't like it you can **** off.

Obviously I'm being sthilly with the phrasing but the point is still a valid one; the buck has to stop somewhere. You're asking who moderates the moderators but if someone did, who would be watching them, and so on.

Sir! Sir!!! Me sir! :joker:

MTVN 08-11-2017 10:11 AM

We are sort of self-regulated because of the way each infraction creates a new thread in the Mod sub-forum so everyone can see it and question it if they wish. There have been plenty of times that an infraction has been reversed after a discussion because we're not one homogeneous voice that always thinks the same thing and sees everything the same way. We do actually disagree with each other quite often in there but normally settle on the majority vote. Plus there's always the Admins above the Mods who can act as a final voice if need be.
