Its value is unfathomable

The UK's annual income from tourism is in the region of £50 billion and it's probably reasonable to say that maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of that could be lost (at a MASSIVE stretch) without an active monarchy, so it's value is maybe about £15 billion. It's a good little chunk but I wouldn't say its unfathomable?

Its a piece of history whether I agree with it or not - I watched Her Maj's funeral too, and the various weddings. I don't think people should comment on things they didn't watch, so of course I watched . What was the alternative - not commenting? It's like you don't even know me.

A referendum with voluntary turnout yes. A referendum where by law every adult had to be polled - I thi k you'd probably get about 30%.

Speculation of course, they'll never poll it in any meaningful way. The most we'll get is "x% of Daily Mail readers say..." and we'll.... No ****, DM readers are crown humpers

you know just talking to people what the general feeling is, and there is no appetite yet for a republic. Like i said earlier, a lot of folk may not give a toss about royalty, but that doesn't make them republicans

Prince Harry was not invited to join his family on the Buckingham Palace balcony, the BBC understands.

Wonderful service and boo to all the republican bores

There's a reason these things have stood the test of time for centuries while the vast majority of things come and go fleetingly

It's because there's no compelling vision for a republic that captures the imagination the way monarchy does. The only thing republicans are really for is elevating politicians to higher status and everyone hates politicians more than royals so...

Republicanism had its day when monarchies were actively political and repressing people. That doesn't happen anymore so honestly the only thing they've got to complain about now is a £1 a year cost to each taxpayer

I have flown on it...we sat at the back and felt the full impact of the engines.
Concorde was one of those aircrafts that graced the air...and no matter how many times you saw it fly overhead you just couldn't help being captivated by it...

I think the Future Monarchy with William and Kate as King and Queen is keeping up the momentum.
When you watch the Ceremonies......the pomp and Pagentry that comes with our Royal Family its what makes this country stand out from all others. Its what draws in the Tourism that brings in Millions each year. No other country does it better and if we didn't have a Royal family we would not be putting on a performance like we do for a 'President'.

Cherie 06-05-2023 03:31 PM

Dont know how to post this video but Louis could have started a crowd clap
