I don't think it's going to help , feels like a stretch. It seems her personal issues are just put out there for the sake of it ....as the police don't have a clue what's happened to her.

It's like when Claudia the Chef from York went missing ,and a tabloid basically printed rubbish about all her previous 'partners' or something. It had nothing to do with the investigation. And to this day we still don't know what happened to poor Claudia!! .

But it's always difficult when people aren't around to defend themselves, and all sorts of theories, fantasies, half truths to pure speculation is said about them.

Well the family have put a statement out now, they approved the statement released by the police as someone was threatening to sell a story to the press....nice people out there eh....

"Although we know that Nikki would not have wanted this, there are people out there speculating and threatening to sell stories about her. This is appalling and needs to stop.

Nicola Bulley's family have lashed out at "speculation and rumours into her private life" in a new statement issued through Lancashire Police. The plea comes after Lancashire Police faced a furious backlash for disclosing the 45-year-old suffered "some significant issues with alcohol" in the past, which had resurfaced over recent months. On Wednesday, senior officers from the force held a press conference. They said Ms Bulley was "vulnerable" and classed by police as a "high-risk" missing person immediately after her partner Paul Ansell reported her disappearance.

The family of the 45-year-old - who has been missing since January 27 - said in a statement through Lancashire Police: "As a family, we were aware beforehand that Lancashire Police, last night, released a statement with some personal details about our Nikki.

"Although we know that Nikki would not have wanted this, there are people out there speculating and threatening to sell stories about her. This is appalling and needs to stop.

"The police know the truth about Nikki and now the public need to focus on finding her.

"Due to the peri menopause Nikki suffered with significant side effects such as brain fog, restless sleep and was taking HRT to help but this was giving her intense headaches which caused Nikki to stop taking the HRT thinking that may have helped her but only ended up causing this crisis.

"The public focus has to be on finding her and not making up wild theories about her personal life.

"Despite what some media outlets and individuals are suggesting, we are being updated daily and receive support from our family liaison officers.

"Nikki is such a wonderful daughter, sister , partner and mother and is missed dearly - we all need you back in our lives.

"Nikki, we hope you are reading this and know that we love you so much and your girls want a cuddle. We all need you home. You can reach out to us, or you can contact MissingPeople.org.uk. Don't be scared, we all love you so very much."

Around 13,000,000 women in the UK are currently going through menopause at the moment

No every woman will have the same symptoms, Nicola was on HRT but it gave her headaches, so she came off it and her symptoms returned, it can cause brain fog, anxiety and depression plus if she came off it in one it hit these symptoms would have hit her like a ton of bricks

I am sure like probably millions of women in the UK so why mention this in relation to her disappearance? What do they imply?

AnnieK 16-02-2023 02:37 PM

It does feel a bit like victim blaming like when they report a rape victim has on a revealing outfit.

I echo Cherie's sentiment that I hope she comes home

bots 16-02-2023 02:41 PM

the police act like there has never been speculation over an unexplained event ever in the past. Everybody does it all the time, and there has never been a more stupid statement than don't speculate.

The police have put this information out because they know the have made a pigs ear of the investigation and they are trying to deflect

Cherie 16-02-2023 02:46 PM

Its not victim blaming at all, her mental health issues have been caused by the menopause and that is relevant in that she is normally stable...bit like when women can have issues around their period due to hormonal changes....they didnt want to put out the statement but due to the lowlife who was threatening to go to the press they had to

If it has no bearing on the case then why do the Police care if it gets into the press?

If it has a bearing on the case (like she had stated she felt suicidal) then that should have been disclosed to explain their fixation on the river?

I believe the family directed the police to issue the statement about vulnerabilities and the follow up statement and this was to prevent someone getting a payday for selling the story.....I am sure they will still try to sell it but the main gist is out there now

bots 16-02-2023 02:53 PM

it's also a pretty important fact in it all that the police visited her house the week before she disappeared. Why was that not considered relevant

Ahhhh I didn't realise that bit. Makes more sense now to come from the Police with the family's knowledge then.
