The really negative side of Sunak's arrogance is shining through more and more
He really should have stayed in France for the whole D Day remembrance. To only leave to do a political domestic interview. Showed nothing endearing about him. No doubt he'll apologise but this was a really shocking bad judgement by him. Most people watching it really were longing they could have been there. Stunning the UK leader chose to leave. That doesn't show respect at all for the event, even more bad and disrespectful towards the veterans. |

It was D Day remembrance event. Not D Day morning or D Day afternoon. He should have stayed there. Plus had.Starmer left early to do a political interview, with Sunak staying throughout. I can just imagine the horror being expressed by the media against Starmer. Which in my view would have been right. Excuse his disrespect all you wish. However I'm not going to, Sunak showed his shocking judgement and selfish arrogance only. He's really gifted Labour, the other Parties and particularly Nigel Farage's Reform with his bad judgement on leaving earlier. I can imagine this being a hard call for Mordaunt tonight to defend and am dying to hear Farage get going as to it. |
Sunak is really not helping himself

I'm convinced Sunak is an NPC, he doesn't seem to exist in the real world whatsoever.

Rishi Sunak's choice to leave the D-Day anniversary event early demonstrates that patriotism is a second-order concern to our managerial political class
It didn’t even occur to him that being truant from the ceremony would cause offence In his heart, he doesn't feel he belongs to Britain over anywhere else He can move anywhere if it offers better job prospects You can see it in the language of his apology D-Day was apparently about preserving the rootless doctrine of the international liberal order "our values, our freedom, our democracy" rings hollow. It can and has been said by any leader anywhere in Europe and the Anglosphere He doesn't speak about anything exclusive to Britain, or its people He doesn't, and cannot, say we owe a debt to our ancestors for the sacrifices they made to protect our Shires and Cathedrals, because he feels no kinship or connection to them He doesn't partake in the national faith. He was parachuted into the safe-seat constituency he purports to represent He speaks of "values" that can be worn and shorn like a coat. They have no hold over him which cannot be shed for his convenience No wonder he made such a catastrophic blunder: because that day means no more to him than another ending in Y This is why apathy has taken hold, and why many patriotic people across Britain feel the Conservative party no longer represents them https://x.com/Con_Tomlinson/status/1798979613240250529 |

and is very sorry. That ITV interview is not to be shown until next week? So no rush.............. |
Pushy Paul Brand ITV reporter should have told him
he would fly out to him..................... |
he had at least half a dozen people who could have said, are you sure this event has actually finished?
He knew exactly what he was doing, and didn't give a toss. It's not much different to Trump failing to attend one year because the weather would mess up his hair |
Not forgetting of course that Gordon Brown only changed his mind about not going to the 65th anniversary when he heard that Barack Obama was going to attend.

I can honestly see the Lib Dems forming the opposition government to Labour, Conservatives are dead and will only have their safe seats and wil rely on the swing seats which honestly they are doing nothing to show people they are worth voting and honestly it wouldn't be a huge shock if reform took the 3rd most with the Tories knocked down but this election shouldn't just be about Labour taking charge but showing that we are not a 2 party state

oops ......
Unite, Labour's biggest trade union backer, has refused to endorse the party's general election manifesto, saying it does not go far enough on protecting workers' rights and jobs in the oil and gas industry. Union leaders were at a meeting on Friday to finalise the party's 2024 election platform ahead of its launch next week. The BBC understands that at the meeting Unite announced they would not endorse Labour's plans. There is now a question mark over whether Unite will fund the party at the general election. In 2019, Unite gave £3m to Labour's campaign. Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham had previously warned there were "no blank cheques" for Labour. Ahead of the meeting, Unite told the BBC it wanted to see the end of zero hours contracts - and a complete ban on the practice of "hire and fire" practices where workers are fired and taken back on with worse pay and conditions. "We go into the meeting with open hearts but girded loins," one union leader told the BBC before entering the meeting. The public service union Unison wanted to ensure commitments to improved pay and wage bargaining are in the document. When asked about union unease before the meeting, Sir Keir said: “We’ve got a very good package for working people. This is the biggest levelling up of rights at work for a very, very long time. “This is about, for me, the respect and dignity that I think everyone should have at work. But it’s also crucial to our plan for growth." Labour's main themes for government have been established for months, but final details will be published next week in a full manifesto launch. A manifesto outlines what a party plans to do if it forms the next government. But party rules, specifically clause five, require the final manifesto to be signed off at a special meeting of the shadow cabinet, the parliamentary committee of Labour MPs, the Scottish and Welsh Labour leaders, the chair and vice-chairs of the National Policy Forum, the national executive committee, and representatives of affiliated trade unions. Clause five does not require all stakeholders to agree to the manifesto for it to be valid. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c722zkj9ly8o |
