Beverly Hills Cop - It's the first time that I've ever seen it tbh.

I found it really fun to watch, I don't think that Eddie Murphy misses a beat in the Film tbh.

It has the classic 80's cheese going on, if you're open to that, then you'll have a great time because I know that I did.:joker:

Abigail 2024

Horror about a group of wannabe criminals who kidnap a 12 year old girl hoping for a hefty ransom but they discover the girl is actually a vampire.

The movie started out well and had so much potential but it just tried to be funny, with the characters acting strange and quirky and it just didn't work. I became bored of the characters running from room to room getting killed off and the last third of the movie was just all over the place. I still watched to the end but not a film I'd want to see again.

The girl who played the vampire was good but she just wasn't enough to make this movie worth it.

5/10.

It's really fun isn't it?

I loved the scene between Eddie Murphy's character and the foreign guy who can't say Axel's name very well.:joker:

Anthropoid……incredibly gripping and brutal and gruelling and well, just harrowing true story…a truly excellent very English cast of Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan……Cillian was just spellbinding in his character….9/10…

In the Land of Saints and Sinners…….I liked it, it continues my run of featuring Colm Meaney films and it was a bit like an old style Western in Ireland…the bad gang come to town and Sheriff Liam Neeson has skills etc…it wasn’t a storyline that held many surprises but it was just a good watch for what it was…7/10….

…I liked In the Land of Saints and Sinners even though it was a little predictable, it was still an enjoyable and solid watch, I thought…

I like Liam Neeson films. Have you seen retribution from the same year. I was considering watching it but it got low scores on reviews and people said his kids were brats in the car.

…yeah, he’s a very watchable actor…I know in many of his films, he’s just playing a version of his Taken character…but that’s something that many actors do, especially in action roles…and it works well for them and for us because so many are fun watches…we don’t always want those Oscar winning/deep thinking and thought provoking stories etc, do we…sometimes we just want kick ass action all the way……I haven’t seen Retribution but I will watch out for it if it’s showing for free on any of the streaming sites I have…I find that his movies quite often get low reviews but I enjoy them so he’s one of those actors that I just ignore the reviews for…(…actually, I ignore the reviews for most things…..)…

Ammi 24-05-2024 08:11 AM

…The Snowman……this was really unexpected as being so gripping and such a good watch with a terrific cast…I don’t think that it was much of a big budget movie, but the cast is huge so I’m not sure why…anyway, it was a very fast moving and gripping storyline with some edge of the seat scenes and very grizzly also…8/10…

Sully - Miracle on the Hudson
The true story of the plane in 2009, which lost both engines due to a bird strike, and successfully landed on the Hudson River , with all 155 on board saved.

Gusto Brunt 25-05-2024 04:20 PM

Like a lot of movies made today, film makers often have good ideas.

Movies start well and then sort of collapse midway through. I see it so many times. As if they run out of ideas.

Mothers' Instinct (2024) is one of those movies. A great cast and it had so much potential but it just ran out of steam around 40 minutes in. It had nothing to fall back on except movie cliches done time and time again.

The result I rate this movie 3/10.

John Wick 4 - Really good action scenes, and some fun acting performances.

Imo probably the strongest narrative since the first Film.

I never watched Disney movies as a child so I'm now watching them on Disney plus. It was easy to connect my new ear buds to the Chromecast and connect when I lift the lid. I watched Anastasia and the Sword in the Stone. Then The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson on Rakuten TV.

I’m much the same .. never really bothered with Disney until we had kids .. then Toy Story caught my attention with the CGI graphics, humour and featured all mu old toys !!

Then our son moved to Florida and got a job as a character actor and its now part of our lives .. indeed I get very protective/ defensive if anyone starts slagging the company off

Congratulations to your Son.

And Disney are an iconic company, it's just unfortunately the bosses in charge of the company aren't always green lighting the greatest scripts at the moment.

Strange times I guess ..

For example, I used to associate Disney with 100% family viewing but of late they have invested in some things / franchises that don’t quite feel right ….

Ultimately it’s all about the money but that’s no different to any other company so I’m not sure why they get criticised quite so much.

I think a few things are going against Disney at the moment for some people.

1. I do think that they have had better eras personally, and that this era isn't that good for them, and it's probably to do with what you've said about them deviating away from what they excel at.

2. I do think that their PR for when any of their products are controversial again I think doesn't make them look good, I mean they were even having one of their Marvel Actors attacking IMDB for it's users scoring She-Hulk low.

Now tbf, I haven't watched She-Hulk so I don't know what the quality is like for my taste, but it just isn't a good look having an actor from the Show attacking IMDB users for having an opinion, and labeling them as "Misogynistic" for not liking the Show.

And 3. Disney is the biggest company in Hollywood, so they're bound to get more criticism than other Studios and Corporations.
