I think she's probably gonna win it, It'll be Gaga or Ellie Goulding I think.

EspeonBB 14-01-2016 11:59 PM

Ellie ain't nominated.

Quote:

"Earned It" from Fifty Shades of Grey – Belly, Stephan Moccio, Jason Daheala Quenneville, and The Weeknd
"Manta Ray" from Racing Extinction – Antony Hegarty and J. Ralph
"Simple Song #3" from Youth – David Lang
"Til It Happens to You" from The Hunting Ground – Lady Gaga and Diane Warren
"Writing's on the Wall" from Spectre – Jimmy Napes and Sam Smith
I'm pretty sure Gaga will win but Sam Smith got the Golden Globe so idk

Ah, I heard a song from Fifty Shades was nominated and assumed it was Ellie's.

Gags wasn't eligible for the GG, so there's a strong chance, I'm hoping the academy will be reluctant to give it to another JB theme song when the last one won and was far superior

It's been rumoured for a few days that gags would be doing a Bowie tribute and she's seemingly confirmed it now, changing her avatar to the black star album cover and tweeting a picture of him

Smithy 28-01-2016 06:05 PM

Ontop of being nominated for an Oscar it's just been confirmed that following last years critically acclaimed performance she'll once again be taking to the stage at the Oscars to perform :clap1:

Dominic 28-01-2016 06:42 PM

Is the rumour about her performing a Bowie tribute with Madonna not happening :worry:

Smithy 28-01-2016 07:35 PM

No, Madonna is in Japan at the time I don't think there was ever any chance of her appearing it was just speculation and such for headlines tbh

Smithy 31-01-2016 09:49 AM

New DWUW video still leaked

Lady Gaga is set to perform a tribute to David Bowie at the Grammy awards, the show organizers announced on Tuesday.

Gaga had been booked to perform during the show before Bowie died last month, Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich told the New York Times. But when news of the legendary artist’s death broke, Ehrlich began discussing a possible tribute with Gaga and her manager.

Several other artists approached Ehrlich about participating in the tribute, but he said he decided to have Gaga – whose style and music were influenced by Bowie – perform solo.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter conducted shortly before Bowie’s death, Gaga spoke fondly about the artist.

“When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamor was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls,” she said. “He is a true, true artist and I don’t know if I ever went, ‘Oh, I’m going to be that way like this,’ or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that’s what drew me to him.”

Gaga’s performance will not open the Grammy’s but will probably last six or seven minutes and cover “at least three or four” songs, Ehrlich said.

The tribute, Ehrlich said, will “be a true homage to who David was, particularly musically, but not ignoring his influence on fashion and pop culture in a broader way”.

If she did a piano version of Lazarus, I think I would die of feels.

Shaun 02-02-2016 04:05 PM

I'd imagine it'll be more classic stuff - if I had to guess I'd say Life On Mars?, Under Pressure & Space Oddity.

Ninastar 02-02-2016 04:12 PM

Yeah, I think so too, but I think maybe to finish it off she'd maybe do the first/final verse of Lazarus because the lyrics are so deep/relevant.

Either way though, what she will do will be brilliant.

Are you looking forward to it Shaun or do you fear she will ruin it?

Shaun 02-02-2016 04:18 PM

Depends how good she is  If she waffles on for a bit about pretentious stuff I'd probably roll my eyes and turn off but if it's just a performance then yay.

Smithy 02-02-2016 08:26 PM

I imagine it'll be like her Sound of Music tribute last year, Queen coming to steal the show :flutter:

:amazed::amazed:

I think she'll start with life on mars, heroes, under pressure and possibly let's dance too

(Yes I only know his big songs, drag me)

...I think it's inevitable that his songs are going to be covered by other artists, isn't it...and I can't think of anyone better to do this and pay a tribute than GaGa...for their time, I think there are many similarities between them..maybe Madonna is another one, who could have done it, I don't know but yeah GaGa will be great I think and so stunningly emotional...hmmmm, I don't know about Lazarus though, Caitlin...I think a celebration of a life and the music he gave us but Lazarus is more his death and I think, should be kept personal, no one else should perform his words of death...death can be nothing other than the most personal thing...we live, we share...we die, we die alone...

Ammi 03-02-2016 04:16 AM

..I don't know, just the whole album..I can't think of anyone else performing any of the songs on it..I think it was his journey into death and something too, too personal for anyone else to even think of doing anything from it...it's not what he gave us it for, he gave us it to say goodbye...
