…Nothing But the Truth……it was really quite an old movie, around 2008 I think…but somehow it’s one that I completely missed and it was such a great move…great cast and great/gripping storyline, it almost felt like a true story but it wasn’t…it’s about a journalist who exposes and reveals a secret CIA agent but when ordered by a Special Prosecutor in the courts…she won’t reveal her source and that’s the crux of the whole story and it carries it so well…Kate Beckinsale, Matt Dillon, Vera Farmiga, Angela Bassett…all terrifically cast…8.5/10, loved it……

Devil Doll - 1964.

A very slow horror film - British made.

The doll in question is creepy, but the story just drags. I manged to get through it after starting and restarting it about 7 times. :p

4.5/10.

Is the new Alien picture any good?

Ray. 04-10-2024 09:18 PM

It was a lot of fun

…Watcher……it was as creepy as holy heck and edge of your seat stuff and it held that vibe and suspense throughout…a very well done movie…7.5/10…

I started watching the new Salem's Lot movie 2022(24). It was okay for the first 15 minutes but it seems everything that was memorable about the 1979 mini series movie, has just been packed into this new remake.

What I mean by that, all the dialogue, the tension, the mystery, has been deleted in favour of a past paced story, which leaves you thinking why so fast?

I stopped watching it at 42 minutes. I will return to it, but it just moves so quickly from scene to scene it was getting on my nerves.

Speak No Evil - I hadn't realised this was a remake of the 2022 Danish film

Spoiler:

they kept it very similar so I was expecting the same terrible ending but they changed the end in this new one, I was so happy with that.

James McAvoy is such a good actor, he played that role so well 7.5/10

Girl You Know It's True 2023. I went to watch Joker Folie à Deux at the Vue. I listened to Lady Gaga album before going.

Bad Boys.....really enjoyed it, plenty of laughs.

Yesterday was quite stressful and unpleasant for me, so after getting in from the night shift, I impulsively decided to put on Anger Management, an underrated Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson comedy that I love but haven't seen in over a decade. Made me laugh a lot.

I've decided to venture into foreign language movies now.

A few I have watched lately include.

The Lives of others
A man escaped
The Apu trilogy
Parasite
Untouchable
Amores Peros
In the mood for love
Nights of Cabiria
The 400 blows

I love Adam Sandler movies, I don't care what anyone says

They have their place in the world. :smug:

I love Mr Deeds, Little Nicky, Happy Gilmore, etc. Fun movies but I haven't seen most of them in such a long time. He's a great dramatic actor, too.

I wasn't a fan of that Uncut Gems film he was in that everyone thought was amazing tbh

That was one of his serious roles [emoji14]

Ray. 09-10-2024 06:36 PM

Oh I know, that's why I'm amused. I shouldn't really be making the claim that he's a great serious actor when I haven't seen most of his serious roles. I want to check out Reign Over Me, a serious film of his where he plays the grieving widower of a 9/11 victim. I'm told that's also very good.

LaLaLand 09-10-2024 06:56 PM

The Substance (2024).

Fantastic, disgusting, horrifying, poignant, brilliant. A modern horror classic.

Catch it while it’s still in the cinemas people - if you’re easily squeamish and don’t like blood/guts/gore maybe not though. :omgno:

I hope Demi Moore gets some awards for this!

I haven't even heard if that. He wasn't bad in Uncut Gems, I just didn't like the film.

I love The Wedding Singer. Probably the only movie Sandler has done that I love.

You ever seen 50 first dates? ,that was actually better than I thought it would be.

bots 11-10-2024 09:36 AM

I've been re-watching the terminator series and have been loving them. I think this series definitely falls into the category where the 2nd film is better than the first. Judgement day was a superb achievement given its release date
