Romantic Old Bird 26-04-2003 11:26 AM

Morning all!

Talking of ScotlanD, this is where my sister has lived for the last 23 years.......

THE WEATHER CAN BE PRETTY MISERABLE ON OCCASION, BUT MOSTLY IT'S BEAUTIFUL, WHITE BEACHES WARMED BY THE GULF STREAM. LAST TIME I WENT MY NEICES WERE BATHING IN THE SEA AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, THE SUN WAS WARM, AND WE HAD THE WHOLE BEACH TO OURSELVES................

Kaz 26-04-2003 11:47 AM

Your sister's a very lucky lady, ROB.

OH and I have spent many a happy holiday HERE - a very small island 15 miles south of Mull.

On one such holiday in May, when the temperature hit 25 degrees most of the time, I came back to work with the most fantastic tan that everyone thought I'd been abroad!

This is my most favourite beach - Kiloran Bay. Stunning.

I'd love to be there
Beside the sea so clear
But my mission for Boris
Means I have to be HERE!

That looks like a really lovely place Kaz!

What a stunning photo.

(We could always do a runner Kaz, like Sticks suggested...and put everyone out of their misery AND have a good hol to boot !)
Attennnnnnnnnnntion :xyxwave:

Hi Boris. :xyxwave:

That sounds like a very tempting idea . . . . .

. . . . . but I can't desert my faithful troops now, I'm afraid. Especially Sergeant Splodge who, as we speak, is trudging his weary way back from Scotland.

Despite rumours of his demise, I can confirm that he is alive and well (if a little frostbitten!!) and hopefully will be back to join us very soon. I'm sure a few shots of whisky will warm him up.

Think he had a few of those last night....but don't tell him I told you , he might be cross:shocked:

By the look of the posts he is 'all at sea' now so he won't kow what we are up to !

Attennnnnntion :xyxwave:

Which one is you on that gallant vessel , Admiral Splodge ?......

And just when did you change service and get promotion ? I don't remeber seeing it on any of the orders that came through.

I certainly haven't sanctioned it :nono:

Walking the plank sounds like a suitable punishment....what do you say Captain Kaz ???

OK, Boris - my lips are sealed!

I think poor Splodge has suffered enough for one week, don't you? I'll leave the 'walking the plank' punishment in reserve just now, if that's all right with you.

He seems to be suffering from hallucinations just now, caused by the cold up in Scotland, and imagining that he's on board the Victory. Similar to the ones Sticks has been having where he thinks he's Tom Cruise. Plenty of rest and a stiff drink or two and he'll soon be back to normal . . . . won't you Splodge?

My grandmother came from a village called Achiltibuie in Wester Ross. I haven't been there for a while but there are some white sandy beaches like this one at Achnahaird:

http://www.achiltibuie.net/images/achbeach.jpg

more beaches

Also there is a group of islands called the Summer Isles, named because of the hot summer weather that Kaz and ROB mentioned. Only one of the islands is inhabited.

Beautiful place.

If we are into islands, then I would like to mention that this one

http://www.lundyisland.co.uk/jpg/lundy_island_1.jpg

Is quite good. Lundy Island sits at the border of the Bristol Channel and the Atlantic Ocean, 11 miles off of the North Devon coast. It was declared Britain's first Marine Nature reserve in 1986. It is owned by the National Trust and run by the Landmark Trust. Lundy is 3 miles long by half a mile wide.

When I used to stay there, I stayed at Old Light Cottage.

http://www.lundyisland.co.uk/jpg/old_cottage.jpg

Situated in the compund of the Old Light.

http://www.lundyisland.co.uk/jpg/old_light.jpg

Situated on the top of the Highest Hill.

This meant the light was virtually useless, as it was mostly shrouded in fog and clouds. The locals warned that this would happen, but were ignored.

REALLY !!!!

BTW , if we are all talking about islands, I always wanted to visit the one where 'The Famous Five' had adventures.

Any one know where to find it ????:conf:

Oh dear Splodge, that last picture of you as the angel Rupert, on patrol did make me laugh. This thread is totally mad, but I love it.

I regret to announce that the body of Flight Officer Ginger was recovered by airforce guys this afternoon. Details are being witheld until his family have been informed.

Flight Officer Ginger was a first class pilot and officer. He was always going above and beyond the call of duty. He will leave a large hole in our unit. The guys are holding a memorial tonight.

I have not asked them about airforce cover tonight, and have granted them one nights compassionate leave.

I have arranged through naval contacts cover from our colleages in the Navy.

If required they are equipped with Tommer hawk cruise missiles

Lets Be Careful out There

Kaz 26-04-2003 10:24 PM

Many thanks for holding the fort tonight, Lance Corporal Rachb - promotion could well be on the horizon for you.

Sticks - I think you've finally lost the plot, old chum!

Splodge, oh Splodge - where have you gone
You've vanished from sight, but the thread goes on
Does anyone know a reincarnation spell
To bring him back . . . . then all will be well.

He walked away and left us,
Wherever did he go?
He says he's with the angels,
We know that he is NOT,
We rather think,
That where he is,
Is somewhere VERy hot !!:devil::devil:

Come Back all is forgiven !

Kaz 26-04-2003 10:51 PM
