Please tell me exactly what you think I've missed?

Decades ago, when Corbyn was working for a tailoring trade union he negotiated a deal successfully, and after everything was finalised he was offered a suit by a tailors. He turned it down because of how it would look

The right wing of the labour party aided by a willing right wing media, smeared with total fabrications, a man with honesty, integrity, and principles, all because the thought of a country that asked them to pay more in tax so we could improve things, was just too much to accept. The country is finished. The last chance to drag it back passed in 2019, We are on the path of the US now, where everything will be privatised, and politics exists to tread on citizenry to pass money upwards. I'm only interested in policies and government that work for the people, not the other way round.

Unless people start looking into the truth of socialism, and not the cold war- pushed narratives, there's no way back from this point. Our living standards are below Poland and Serbia, and we still call ourselves the gtreatest country on earth because we enslaved half the world a few centuries ago. We're a failed democracy, and a failed society. There is no need for us to live like this. It's pure and simple apathy. France rioted when they tried to raise the pension age. We have the lowest pension in western Europe, the lowest welfare support, the highest age of retirement, and for what?

Because the homeless shelter volunteer, and amateur jam maker n was just too dangerous. Absolute fcuking madness.

Unless people are willing to move their votes away from the monolithic labories, in order to vote for progressive change, then things are only going to get worse.

Unless Starmer has to sack reeves because she becomes too toxic for his reputation, by the time she's finished, there is a good chance she ends up as reviled as Thatcher when all is said and done.

Nowt wrong with Maggie.. (your post, another good read)

i actually think the UK political system is doing ok. It's more robust than people seem to imply. Democracy chose the governing party, it was the will of the people, just like it was when Boris won in 2019. We may not like the choice that people make, but thats part of living in a democracy. If it was the will of the people, Corbyn would have won. He didn't on 2 attempts, and people need to accept that. Saying things are unfair, the press is unfair etc are bad losers. People are capable enough of deciding who they want and don't want in power

It would be a lot easier to accept if they all just stopped lying before elections.

It's not democratic when 33% of the vote gives you a massive majority.

I don't think you understand what happened with Corbyn. In 2017, when the right of the labour party saw Jeremy gain massive support with young people, and when they started chanting his name at glastonbury, there were private meetings held by his own party determined to bring him down.

This is when the accusations of anti Semitism started. It's not about fairness, it was about a semi coup by a party, who have now continued the tory austerity. The right of labour didn't want power to do good things and try and improve the country, they did it for powers sake.

Propaganda exists for a reason, as do adverts. it's really easy to shape an opinion of someone.

It was not about fairness, it was a silent coup by the labour party allied with the media. It's not an opinion, what happened is fact that is now being openly spoken about by the party.

I have not seen or heard of that wee creep since his election failure

Sure Rishi Mixed
in the Crowd.
But extra security was in there.

PM Starmer claims he is saving,
Cash as he does not need extra security?

Beso 20-09-2024 02:17 PM

I don't see how its saving money. Surely the security are on a monthly wage, so will be getting paid wherever they are.

The Slim Reaper 20-09-2024 02:27 PM

I read somewhere that Rishi was in an area specifically cordoned off, but I have no idea if that's true or not.

They should have offered him a suit that looked better :hehe: .

Starmer makes me ill just looking at him.

Can't stand the man. You know he's lying when he opens his mouth and speaks.

I don't think he'll last 12 months as PM. He's already one of the most hated men in the UK, alongside Huw Edwards. But for very different reasons of course.

Fair points

bots 20-09-2024 07:06 PM

it's a lot more difficult to replace a labour leader than it is a tory leader. It would never be supported

Oliver_W 20-09-2024 08:24 PM

Not being funny or anything but I've never thought Kier's clothes were particularly good or look especially expensive.
They're not offensively bad and he doesn't look shabby or anything. But he may as well be in TopMan or something.

They do both have what I imagine a gammon face looks like.
