People are quite invested with the footie and the weather has been amazing (lots of people were doing barbeques around where I live last night). So either of those could be affecting figures. I think the launch shows put a lot of people off too (even I was going to switch off quickly). Given the first few days were hardly engaging TV that has no doubt impacted a lot on this series viewers.

I'm holding out for more officials to come out before a final judgement yet. The ratings aren't great and down 200-600k from last year although they have stayed steadily around the 1 million mark which shows there is a dedicated audience still (might be easy to say BB is a cult show these days).

If officials for this eviction and the previous episodes are crap then I'll be very concerned. I'm sitting on the fence for now though.

But is still doesn't make sense. It's not like people jave dropped the series because of the footie because it got two ratings of 1.4m in the week, so to fall to 1.1m has nothing to do with people not watching because of the matches, but something else. Maybe the +1 rating was very large or maybe the officials will be huge for last night?

Pronshi 21-06-2014 11:21 PM

I can't wait to see what Big Brother got against The Hunger Games on channel 4 last night.

duclos 22-06-2014 05:10 AM

The officials for the first couple of days aren't half bad:
Thursday (Launch #1) - 2.43 million
Friday (Launch #2) - 1.96 million
Saturday - 1.46 million
Sunday - 1.92 million

Maybe BB got at least 1.2 yesterday evening, I hope it did but i wouldn't bet on it.

861k exc +1 last night

loool sozzz jake

Jemal 22-06-2014 09:47 AM

Yea i guess it is bad but some people (including me) just didnt feel the need to rewatch the eviction i guess

Samm 22-06-2014 09:53 AM

It's was against the football last night and a film and it was a Saturday so I'm not surprised

Jake. 22-06-2014 10:05 AM

Channel 4's premiere of #TheHungerGames averaged a strong 2.67m/16.2% from 9pm, putting it behind BBC1 only during that time.

Rob! 22-06-2014 10:10 AM

*mazedsalv** 22-06-2014 10:42 AM

Chill out people, it was Saturday yesterday AND against a match and still was the most watched Saturday of the series, with +1 it would be close to 1m. Also, even excluding +1, it was higher than BB14's 3rd Saturday.

*mazedsalv** 22-06-2014 10:47 AM

Officials have been released earlier than usual:

05/06 - 2.43m (10.8%)
06/06 - 1.96m (9.4%)
07/06 - 1.46m (6.3%)
08/06 - 1.92m (7.7%)
09/06 - 1.61m (6.1%) and 1.44m (7.5%)
10/06 - 1.84m (9.8%)
11/06 - 1.65m (9.3%)
12/06 - 1.37m (6.1%)
13/06 - 1.37m (5.4%) and 1.34m (7.9%)

Yes, there may be some that look low, but those last 3 ratings all were sub 1m in overnights because of the start of the World Cup, so there was a climb of 400k. The ratings we should be looking at is the 1.84m and the 1.65m, those were similar in the overnights to what all this week got (Monday-Thursday), so we should be expecting overnights of 1.6-1.9m for the officials for the last few days.

Jake. 22-06-2014 10:50 AM

Some of those are very strong.. happy with that

Samm 22-06-2014 10:51 AM

They look good all of the ratings that didn't drop under 1 Million got over 1.5, I'm happy with them and ratings that went under Million climbed back up

Exactly. And between Monday-Thursday this week we got two 1.4m,which most likely will be ~1.8m.

Jake. 22-06-2014 11:07 AM

With those figures in place we currently have a 1.67 average and a 7.84% average share

Is the share based on overnights or officials, as I imagine it's hard to tell what official average share's are? I'm guessing they would exclude demand 5 viewing as this can't really apply?

Anyway, That's very strong considering the bad publicity regarding ratings. So it's about on par with the first two C5 series, which although were the lowest on record, I feel are still good, especially when you consider both BBC Two, C4 and C5 often struggle to hit past the 1.5m mark due to the complexity of TV viewing habits these days!

And a share of nearly 8% is good too, particularly when you compare the CBB series, whose lowest whole rating has been 9.4% (CBB10) and it's highest has been 10.8% share (CBB13) and when you compare the share of 8.1% for BB14!

Jake. 22-06-2014 11:16 AM

The share average os from the official shares posted

daniel-lewis-1985 22-06-2014 11:23 AM

In expected sub 1 million last night it did better than I thought tbh.

The officials aren't bad either some good figures there.

Seeing as some world cup games aren't getting as many viewers as they were hopefully they will continue to climb.

Kai Anders 22-06-2014 11:25 AM

Comparison Charts

Here's a quick comparison of the C5 official ratings for the first week of each series.

Looking at those charts the ratings for this series aren't that bad then^^ especially not when you factor in that they have been up against the football a lot of the time.

daniel-lewis-1985 22-06-2014 11:32 AM

Forgot how strongly BB13 started.

Olympics killed it off didn't it.

That's really useful. Thanks for posting!

When you compare it to previous years it's not all that bad than. Still a minor drop on the whole but not the end of the world.

*mazedsalv** 22-06-2014 12:24 PM

That's very useful, BB12 and BB13 sank throughout the run, especially BB13, jesus! Olympics!! BB13 started very strongly! Whereas BB14 climbed throughout its run. Lets hope for no fall like BB12 and BB13 and hope for a climb like last year as BB14 did.

BB14 official by week averages.

1.91m, 1.69m, 1.68m, 1.75m, 1.87m (Daley ejection week), 1.86m, 1.86m, 1.81m, 1.73m.

Or better, rise like CBB13!

2.99m, 2.90m, 3.02m, 3.37m.

Well it cant afford to drop any further really can it!

This year is just annoying though, just when it looks like its climbing it drops again.

Its the cock tease of BB ratings.

BB12 actually done well to get 1.6 million especially since +1 didn't exist back then.

When does this world ****ing cup end?

Lol, Dan, we still have a lot of time, it finishes in like 3 weeks :p It's still in the first stage, Eng are already out though.

Completely agree with you though, when it got two 1.4m this week, I thought, come on! And then the eviction got 1.1m excl +1 and I thought, WTF.

I looked it up 13 July it ends, it doesn't clash with an eviction this week but it does next week

If CBB wasn't there in august, they should of started it on the 18th July but with Summer CBB, Big brother would drag to October

I thought England were back in after accusations about some referee scam?

Anyway if not do you think the ratings will be that big? The last few games have only been about 4 million since England shat their pants haven't they?

I said that aswell they should have started BB in July.

It would have given the viewers a well earned break but they have to fit in another final celeb one on this contract aswell don't they.

Love your sig btw :)

Will. 22-06-2014 01:10 PM

It would be cool to have BB in winter, early January to Mid March, and then have a CBB in March time ending early April, then in September again if they were to carry on with 2 CBB a year.

Yes, Caroline's eviction was seen by a record low of 500,000 due to the opening games.. sadly.. I forgoed BB that night **don't worry, I caught the repeat the day after**

MrMinaj 22-06-2014 01:28 PM

this will be the lowest rated BB. im pretty certain of that.
but it has been the worst BB so far on channel 5 (so far!), so its not like the audience are missing much.

you're welcome! I think the viewable audience is still where it should be, I just suspect some people are watching less of the shows e.g. Some last year could be watching all 7 shows each week, this year perhaps they're watching 4-5.. as it could explain the good retention in viewers and then sudden drops too!
