The Slim Reaper 04-07-2022 11:29 AM

Cherie making a comeback after playing it safe last round :smug:

Liam- 04-07-2022 11:29 AM

I mean, even if a song isn’t as strict to a theme as you’d like it to be, a 1 is a way harsh if it at least fit the dance it was paired with

Beso 04-07-2022 11:30 AM

Great song cherie...

I wanted to use that song.

Strictly Jake 04-07-2022 11:30 AM

Next is Liam and Nadiya with a Viennese Waltz to Kiss from a rose

Vanessa: Wow wow wow That was incredible! Absolutely fantastic dance. I couldn't praise it enough. 10!

Slim: (Has to be about someone, so April showers or come what May won't cut it)
You've left me no choice. 1

Kate: Lovely lovely lovely. So sweet and gentle. Heavenly performance. 10!

Score: 21/30

The Slim Reaper 04-07-2022 11:31 AM

You might be right Liam. If it hadn't have been talked about in thread, I'd have probably settled on a 5, but because it was, I had to stick to the rules we discussed.

Liam- 04-07-2022 11:31 AM

Knew it, that’s wild

Strictly Jake 04-07-2022 11:33 AM

Next is Lewis and Amy with an American Smooth to Mandy

Vanessa: Very romantic. Amazing routine. You have a great partnership. 10!

Slim: Good choice for the dance that should have earned an 8, but using a westlife cover instead of Barry, has unfortunately turned it into a 6. 6.

Kate: Omg. I wish my name was Mandy. Fit the dance to a tee. Ravishing. 10!

Score: 26/30

Beso 04-07-2022 11:34 AM

O
Was the perfect score for that.

Strictly Jake 04-07-2022 11:36 AM

Closing the show is Niamh and Pasha with a Contemporary to Iris

Vanessa: I loved this. You're showing us exactly what you're capable of. I'm impressed! 9.

Slim: Not my favourite, but a solid effort that met the brief. 8.

Kate: And an immaculate way to close the show. Yes you've guessed it. 10!

Score: 27/30

Strictly Jake 04-07-2022 11:37 AM

Kate also wants to say this

I could do nothing to fault absolutely any of these song choices for their matching dances. I found myself handing out 10s and couldn't stop. Belter after belter got me singing along and tapping my feet etc. You've all outdone yourselves. I'm lost for words. Xx

Beso 04-07-2022 11:38 AM

We defo need guest judges.

Lewismacfarlane 04-07-2022 11:38 AM

Thanks for the scores guys

Sorry slim

Niamh. 04-07-2022 11:39 AM

Phew

Just wait till I go offline for 15 minutes, and my colleagues will be desperate to get a guest judge in :smug:

Kate! 04-07-2022 11:40 AM

Well done everyone. I had a lovely time listening to all your songs. Bliss.

Liam- 04-07-2022 11:41 AM

Docking a few points because the song doesn’t fit the theme exactly how you want it to yeah, understandable, 1 point even though the songs fits the dance perfectly is actually wild to me

Lewismacfarlane 04-07-2022 11:42 AM

I've survived again

It wasn't about it not fitting perfectly though. I think you can look through my scores and see that I judged each song on it's merits. Songs that I didn't particularly like were still given decent scores if they fit the brief.

Cherie 04-07-2022 11:49 AM

Thank you judges :douf:

waiting for Slim paid off

The Slim Reaper 04-07-2022 11:51 AM

Just a reminder that these songs exist.

I wanted to choose the Beatles Eleanor Rigby if I had an appropriate dance. But the randomised wheel gave me the jive

The Aretha version is perfect for the jive.

The theme was songs with names in the title, you decided to add your own rules to it, which fair enough whatever, a 1 for a song that fit the dance perfectly is mind boggling, even if it didn’t fit your personal extra rules for the theme

Damn. Didn't know it existed

Niamh. 04-07-2022 12:05 PM

None of the Beatles songs would have suited mine either

I agree.

I wouldn't have even given a 1 and I'm a very harsh judge.

I would have given a 1 just for effort and additional points on top based on the song and theme.

It fits the theme. Rose is a woman's name. And it was my favourite. So I gave it a 10.

Lewismacfarlane 04-07-2022 12:23 PM

Vanessa thanks for your comments

You're welcome.

Strictly Jake 04-07-2022 12:27 PM

As Cherie chose the theme for week 2 we go on who's the second on the leaderboard to choose the theme and that is Alf. So what's your choice of theme Alf?

I didn't add my own rules to it. Without Alf asking the question, I wouldn't have even given it a second thought. But then as soon as the rules were established what was i supposed to do? Same as Brexit week with Kaz using Nickys sister instead of Irish/British. As soon as Parm pointed it out, I agreed with the point being made.

But Rose is a woman's name. So it does fit the theme.

I had a random dream the other night about the Brexit week we had. And in the dream people were saying they had got Imelda may and Caro Emerald mixed up. I've only just remembered it now you mentioned it and I've forgot to look of Imelda may is Irish

Just done a Google and yes Imelda May is Irish. Hmm maybe that's why I let that song be used then as I got mixed up between Imelda and Caro

The point was a question was asked earlier if you can use a word that's both a persons name and has a different meaning if the meaning in the song isn't the persons name and Slim had said that he wasn't going to say that it fit the theme if it wasn't using the name meaning

Imelda was used in one of the other series under the Irish artist rounds

Strictly Jake 04-07-2022 12:32 PM

I must say I'm loving this series so far. We've only just had week 3 and that was all in the space of a week and there's been so much chatter regarding it. It's good to see
