So, what does that mean? What happens to Silas?

Glad there's some kind of follow up though. All of them just moving on and forgetting so soon wasn't good.

Psychiatric hospital? I was worried that they would have killed him off screen because of his heart problems tbh:(.

Rather erotic shot of Mercedes on the sofa there... lol

I cannot believe it has took this long to get some reaction or reflecting from the villagers about what Silas did.

Kieron Richardson has hit back at Hollyoaks fans who claim Doug's gay storyline is unrealistic.

Speaking to Heat magazine, the Ste Hay actor - himself gay - referred to his past experiences in justifying Doug's decision to come out despite having dated the late Bex (Daisy Turner).

Richardson said: "PJ [Brennan] has got quite a lot of stick, people saying, 'This wouldn't have happened in real life, you wouldn't have had a girlfriend in the past'. Well, I had a girlfriend, so it obviously does happen.

"From personal experience, there were very limited gay characters on TV shows," the 26-year-old went on.

"Coming from a council estate and going to a school where to even say the word 'gay' you'd probably get beat up, it would've been great to have something on TV to say, 'You know what? It's actually alright' and if you do say the words "I'm gay" you're not going to melt or disintegrate or anything'. I'm proud that I'm kind of helping people."

Meanwhile, the star admitted that kissing scenes with Brennan were "not so nice" due to the pair's stubble, and prefers embracing former boyfriend Emmett Scanlan (Brendan Brady).

"You get really bad stubble rash," Richardson added. "Everyone thinks that Emmett [Scanlan], because he's got the 'tache, that it really hurts - but because it's so long it's quite soft!

"Recently, from kissing PJ, by the time 5 o'clock comes, [our stubble has] grown back. Merging them together is not so nice."

 He does not get it, it is unrealistic. Doug was all about killing himself because of Bex at Christmas, but suddenly he is now fully gay? It is also the fact he has turned gay over night without weeks or even months to develop.

HOLLYOAKS: STE HAY'S LOVE DILEMMA

bbfan1991 28-05-2012 03:48 PM

Hollyoaks stars Emmett Scanlan and Karen Hassan have been cast in upcoming BBC thriller The Fall, Digital Spy can confirm.

The pair, best known for playing Chester residents Brendan Brady and Lynsey Nolan, have been filming the five-part drama over the last few weeks.

Starring X Files legend Gillian Anderson and Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan, The Fall focuses on a serial killer on the loose in Belfast and the female detective superintendent in charge of the investigation.

Scanlan is playing the role of DC Glen Martin, one of the detectives investigating the unsolved murder that Anderson's character DSI Gibson is brought in to review.

Meanwhile, Hassan has landed the part of Annie Brawley, a young accountant who catches the eye of murderer Paul Spector (Dornan).

As previously announced, the pair's Hollyoaks co-star Bronagh Waugh (Cheryl Brady) is also involved in the project, playing the role of Paul's wife Sally-Ann Spector.

Scanlan, Hassan and Waugh have all been juggling The Fall with their Hollyoaks commitments and are not leaving the Channel 4 soap to play their new parts.

Other cast members confirmed for The Fall include ex-Hollyoaks star Gerard McCarthy, Holby City's Niamh McGrady, The Jury actor John Lynch, Roy's Simon Delaney and Emmy-winning Good Wife actress Archie Panjabi.

The Fall is scheduled to air this winter on BBC Two.

Hollyoaks star Karen Hassan has praised the soap's bosses for creating a friendship between her character Lynsey Nolan and troubled Mercedes McQueen.

The pair struck up a bond at the beginning of the year, and will share more screen time this week as Lynsey comforts Mercedes following the news that serial killer Silas Blissett will not stand trial.

Hassan told OK Extra of the storyline: "It's been great because Jennifer Metcalfe and I have a good chemistry and we really enjoy filming scenes together. The storyline with the doctor taking advantage of us both was particularly fun.

"I don't think there are enough female friendships on soaps, so it's nice they have that relationship."

Lynsey is currently dating Mercedes's ex-fiancé Riley Costello (Rob Norbury) in secret. The pair leave Mercedes stunned by going public with the romance in next week's episodes.

Hassan explained: "I think [Lynsey's] wracked with guilt… but then she does feel that she deserves to be happy for a change because she usually puts everyone else's needs above her own."

Asked where she wants Lynsey to go next, the actress replied: "It's really hard to think of something that hasn't been done before, but I'm really enjoying the love triangle storyline at the moment because it's so different to the Silas storyline. I just want to do anything that's going to get the tears flowing or your heart jumping. I love all of the high drama!"

bbfan1991 28-05-2012 03:50 PM

Hollyoaks star Karen Hassan has admitted that she wants serial killer Silas Blissett to make a dramatic return to the village.

The actress revealed that Jeff Rawle, who played evil Silas, would return to the role if the show's producers asked him back.

Hassan's character Lynsey Nolan found herself embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Silas last year as she was the only person who saw his true colours.

Reflecting on the plot, Hassan told OK Extra: "That's the sort of storyline you want to get, because it's so dramatic. One minute you're in tears and the next minute you're screaming at someone. I'd like to see more of that side of Lynsey. She's the girl next door but we saw a much stronger and determined side to her.

"I saw Jeff, who played Silas, at the Soap Awards and he said he'd come back if he was asked, so I'm hoping there will be a prison break storyline in the future!"

The 30-year-old added that her current Hollyoaks contract runs until August, but her filming schedule has been less hectic since the Silas plot reached its conclusion.

She said: "During the Silas storyline, I found it hard to do anything but go home and sleep because you're absolutely zonked doing that sort of thing. At the moment I'm not on set as much so I have my evenings to myself just like any other job. I went home for a week recently and also went on holiday with my friends."

This week's Hollyoaks episodes see the villagers forced to revisit their memories of Silas when he hits the headlines once again.
